The animations play when you pull the card too. Then you can view them again in the Dex by long pressing the card. It's a pretty neat feature.

I haven't used them yet but the stats are identical so they are functionally the same card.

That's fair! I like them both a lot. I didn't add it here but the full art version of the card has a whole animated scene that goes along with it when you first unlock it and when you view it in the Dex. I'm hoping it has a special animation when you bring it out or attack too whenever I get the chance to use it.
