I was not aware of this, thank you for sharing! I agree having a non-Google connected option would be better.

Reddit has been about soft power for a while now. Ever since they scapegoated Ellen Pao, imo. They’ve been changing things relatively slowly compared to Twitter in terms of enshitification, and being more careful about who they piss off at any given time. They’ve become more emboldened ever since they banned 3rd party apps, as now they are allowing bot farms and bad actors that commented on behalf of the admins.

Reddit could be seeing tons of users leaving the site daily, but they’re for sure replacing them with bots to paint a better picture and drive engagement. The same thing applies to Twitter as well. It’s why on BlueSky for instance, I don’t see ragebait dominating my feed due to the more robust moderation tools compared to Twitter and Reddit.

Lemmy has avoided most bots due to the manual approval processes from what I can see. I think Lemmy should strongly consider implementing BlueSky’s moderation tools though.

What’s wild to me is that rewarding labor doesn’t even go against capitalism. Capitalism thrives when there is competition and competitive wages/benefits to reward labor. Instead we have late-stage capitalism with a bunch on uncompetitive monopolies which treat laborers as expendable, since those workers are limited on being able to find work with better conditions and pay.

That’s the sad truth unfortunately. I don’t even approach sarcasm these days since the absurd might take it as validity.

It’s harder to tell when people in this very chain are saying similar without any sarcasm.

Okonomiyaki is so yummy! I wish there were more Japanese restaurants that served it on the menu. Making it at home has at least staved off my cravings for it for now though.

Big if true.

Gimp has always been such a lifesaver for me. I’m glad to see it still has been getting improvements!

  1. How much are you spending on your cards every month???
  2. Why not have more than one card for different things, rather than cancelling cards?
  3. You generally want to very rarely cancel a credit card, I recommend finding one with no annual fees and sticking with it. You can always have more cards after all.
  4. A spending limit doesn’t really mean anything if you payoff your credit early, you can always request that your CC company release your credit early once you pay it off early.

In retrospect, they should have not made First Past the Post voting our voting standard. That is primarily what has caused our partisanship to arise to the extent that it has.

We can still change the voting system in each state individually to move away from First Past the Post, but that requires each individual state to have ballot initiative going that people can vote on for a new system such as Ranked Robin voting, STAR voting, Score voting, or even Ranked Choice voting.

It’s not an attack on you, I say as a straight cis white guy. It’s for people that are othered to not be excluded. It’s saying that every person is uniquely themself as well. How someone identifies is their identity after all. I have friends that are gay, straight, trans, and queer. If I can do little things like acknowledging my friends for who they are, then I am helping make their lives just a little bit better in an often cold and uncaring world.
