Problem now is “luxury” brands, which is the same shit quality at a huge markup. Quality is often not even a consideration for producers these days.

I am hopeful that a sizable chunk of people are smart enough to see the writing on the wall with corporate owned media and will inevitably follow to the non-corporate-controlled places (like the fediverse model). The danger will be the model falling over as the temptation to centralise, control, and exploit becomes higher. The lemmy model only works if there isn't a dominate server with a large proportion of content right? What happens if lemmy.world gets big then just decides to de-federate? It's just reddit all over again.

Anywhere for people to browse pay-for-access jellyfin servers?

Now go deeper down that rabbit hole. What are you actually referring to when you say the red apple has the property of every colour except red? What other properties does this apple have? How are you determining the boundaries of "apple" from it's surrounding environment? Are you suggesting that there is a 'reality' that is different from that which we perceive? If so, what does that even mean if we are not able to engage with it? How would it be any different from say, a dream world? Here's some interesting starting points: https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/color/

Oh wow! This is giving me old school Karnivool vibes. Pity about the harsh vox, they really don't need it. The rest is incredible!

Name a better album to sing along to on long car rides. An absolute banger!

I guess with popularity comes the full force of "not so desirable" people

That does appear to be a problem with the model, yes. Time will tell I guess. The other side to that coin is "what if I want to interact with other federated platforms, like Mastodon, from the one account?". I believe that's what Kbin is trying to achieve. All of this technology (ActivityPub) is in it's infancy still.

Yeh I have noticed the same. With no interaction it makes it look like a ghost town
