Christian's apologised for the popups on the top one:

Clearly I went a bit too aggressive with that (it seems the double-final-day thing caused this influx of posts so that was clearly the tipping point of annoyance for many folks), and I am sorry, my intention genuinely wasn't to be spammy but I do see how it came across that way.

You also seem to be presenting the increased prices as him doing it before when I'm seeing it was clearly done after.

For the first time in about half a decade since introducing Ultra, I'll be increasing the prices slightly after this Black Friday event, so this is also your last chance to get the monthly and yearly unlocks at a lower price. Monthly will increase from $0.99 to $1.49, yearly from $9.99 -> $12.99.

For jailbreaking, well, if you have tweaks that allow pirating of in-app purchases, you're gonna have to deal with that tbh. He wasn't targeting jailbroken users per se, he was targeting people who are using the free IAP tweaks there. Even if the user didn't intend to use it on Apollo, those tweaks aren't discriminate in how they work (having run that tweak before when I used an iPhone). You'll have to just disable it on apps that detect it.

Used both (currently on AM but used Deezer thanks to a free trial).

They both have their exclusives and they might do something in relation to, say, a new album launch, but I've not had any blatant advertising on either of them. Apple's Podcast app on iOS is free, if they have an iPhone.

I use Apple Music, it fits my workflow better and I can supplement the streaming library with stuff I've got in my local library. Spotify technically allows that too but not as integrated as Apple Music.

For discovery, I don't use streaming algorithms as much, I've been using Rate Your Music for that. Got some great recommendations from its algorithms and its users. The site has been around since 2000 I believe, I'm convinced it will survive whatever the next phase of the internet will be.

Technically bi (though my tastes lean gay), I was put in Glasgow for listening to a lot of Steps and CHVRCHES... Given that Glasgow was on the running to host the Gay Olympics this year I guess it could be a close equivalent?

I would imagine synthetic meat would be strictly regulated anyway. According to the article OP linked, there's only two companies in the US that have been approved to make synthetic meat.

man I used to listen to them and Krewella a lot when I was 16-18 lol. I've still got a soft spot for that era of EDM.

I've got two, from Spotify and Apple Music.

Both have Steps as my favourite artist which mostly isn't surprising. The top song on the two differ, though - for Spotify it's Samo mi se spava by Serbian singer Luke Black, and Apple Music it's Twisted by Australian prog metal band Voyager. Both artists entered Eurovision 2023, though Twisted wasn't the entry.

Awaiting ListenBrainz's which'll be released in the new year, as that will have some of the most accurate data, as it includes things from my local library

I'm friends with a furry artist and he wouldn't join fedi mainly due to fears from fediblocking, unhelped by how fandom drama gets in general, not just in the furry sphere, and major drama with mastodon.art using some grifter's block list which blocks like over 50% of the fediverse.

From what I've learned, being friends with him and other artists (and following ones I'm interested in), a lot of creators want a ready-made audience to advertise their artwork to, which was where Twitter came into play and why a lot of them are going for Bluesky instead since it's recreated that experience for them. It gets hairier when it comes to NSFW content, too, since some places on the fediverse are absolutely fine with it on their timeline, and some places are definitely not. Though Bluesky has popularised CWs for adult content in that sphere, some instances don't like users posting NSFW and will request it be unlisted if it's allowed at all.

If the creator is SFW only, they'll have a lot of good luck using a general purpose Mastodon instance, unless they find a community that suits them better. Joinmastodon.org has a good list, and a lot of them don't have that networking issue except with very fringe instances.

OP, I'm just going to be blunt. Between this, the post about the plush (where you put a lot of accusations with no proof) and the post you made on c/Voyager, it seems like you're trying to attack Christian. It's pretty weird.

tbh, the original OP has accusations, without any proof. That shit got tiring on Reddit. Until then, it just seems like to me the guy is mad Christian wants to market Apollo's mascot a bit more and is trying to paint him as evil.

(FWIW, Apollo users were able to get Apollo as a Pixel Pal, so it wasn't like this came out of thin air)

EDIT: Seems like OP is also trying to rile up the Voyager community by showing a comment from Christian about how he's "contributed enough" to Voyager (with it being an Apollo clone).

And then gets mad when OpenAI uses that data. Like bro it wasn't your data in the first place.
