Great skills, giving a tiny fraction of the budget to vaccine research during a global pandemic that halted the economy. I'm sure no one else would have thought of that.

Totally made up claim, the average passenger car age is 12.2 years in the US, and 12 years in Europe. BMW market share is 2.4% in the U.S., 6.7% in Europe. Similar figures for Mercedes are 2.5% U.S. vs. 5% Europe.
Your lamp shade is driving me crazy!
My statement wasn't about what's "morally right", it was an example of a suicide that the average person will consider a net gain for society.
A civilized society should obviously not have as its' goal to make parts of its' inhabitants kill themselves - the podcast that I got the statistic from was actually an interview with a police officer who worked on monitoring related internet activities, and proactively confronting said individuals to offer preventative chemical castration and therapy sessions. That still doesn't change the fact that most would rather just see those kinds of people gone, at least after they're convicted/proven to act upon their urges.
Yeah, for example convicted pedos have a higher suicide rate than the average - I don't think most people believe that is a statistic we should work on changing.
That's because of the way it is.
It's a war crime.
It's almost like the point of these scenarios is fun escapism and isn't about perfectly simulating an apocalyptic wasteland down to the most mundane and uninteresting parts.
Also, they time travel past going to the shitter, sleeping, most of the journeys etc. So unrealistic that it's literally unwatchable.
What country is this, so that I never travel there?
PHEV's are getting reclassified/re-regulated by the EU, because:
-
The stated average emissions are based on actually plugging in to charge, which most owners don't bother with, considering electric propulsion only accounts for like 1/15 of the cars total range
-
It has been regulated in a way that gave the manufacturer only small emissions penalty for increasing the motor size & weight of the car - because it was still considered to be electrically powered.
-
The design itself leads to a heavier car (having 2 propulsion systems)
Meanwhile, the full EV market has been more self-regulating in the sense that they have kept the weight/energy requirements down in order be competitive on range.
Sound more like the U.S. than Germany - Germany has the €49/month public transport ticket, relatively good public transport offerings and a green party that has the best election results of the western industrial countries. Of course shutting down nuclear power plants didn't do them any favours regarding pollution.
