I care because anybody who didn't vote for Kamala Harris in 2024 is a dumb asshole and responsible for all of this. People's vote mattered and millions of people who voted for Biden were absent for Harris.
The fact that you would ever even consider a Republican isn't comforting in the least. They haven't taken a sudden turn for the worse, they've been the party of gutting social programs to give tax cuts to the rich for over 40 years now.

Even when I'm on the phone I always use the browser so idk about the apps, the Piefed API is 95% similar to Lemmy.
Piefed is written in Flask which is similar to Django that I think but I'm not certain Lemmy is built on. The practical difference is the Piefed developers aren't the Lemmy developers, so you can use Piefed without inadvertently supporting horrible people.
I have an odd hypothetical for you, if it turned out the documents absolve Democrats like Bill Clinton of any involvement or wrongdoing then would you admit you were wrong?
Would you suddenly be like "oh wow the propaganda convinced us they were never on our side but they were actually, they're the combined efforts of whatever good people remain to try to make a better world, we should all vote DNC"? When I complained about the recent banner on World which is asking for donations which go directly to ML and pay the salaries the known pro-war, pro-genocide, and Transphobic Dessalines and Nutomic, the Lemmy.World Support moderator had this to say:

The fediverse does not need Lemmy, including Lemmy.ML, Hexbear, and Lemmy.World, those instances are a sickness that the fediverse will survive.
