In December 2020, Conservative activists were filmed attending a "Jingle and Mingle" Christmas party at the Conservative party headquarters in London, in violation of then-active Tier-2 Covid restrictions.

Shaun Bailey, who subsequently received a peerage, had hosted this event during his unsuccessful campaign for Mayor of London; footage reveals attendees dancing and socializing indoors, with one attendee suggesting it was alright to film provided they didn't broadcast their rule-breaking.

While initially no action was taken against the attendees, including Bailey, the police are now reassessing the situation based on newly provided video footage.

For Lemmy there is jerboa (android) which is quite nice and Mlem for iOS.

[–] Felemuso@feddit.de 2 points 2 years ago

That's exactly one of those things!

Good question. But I guess only the beehaw admins know the answer to that. But from my understanding so far they would only silence you if you actively spread negativity - but I might be wrong.

Yeah you're probably right. But the good thing is with lemmy the "community" can decide what is acceptable behaviour and what not. If the admin of an instance finds another instance abusive they can just defederate it. And if the users of this instance don't like that the other one got de-federated they can just switch. (or at least that's my basic understanding so far...)

Hehe so far I actually did it manually whenever I read a news post without any comment yet 😉 But my plan is to implement a bot once I find some time 😊 Would love to see the bots from reddit join lemmy 😁

Ah got it, ok sorry I misunderstood you. But yes, this sounds believable. As I understand they have a very clear vision what is wrong with social media and believe that only very strict moderation can fix these problems. If this is right or wrong I cannot really say...

Twitter is getting evicted from its Colorado office over unpaid rent A judge deemed that the company must vacate by the end of July.

It's another day, so here's another entry in the endless "Twitter is slowly becoming an empty husk" conversation.

The judge sided with the landlord and has given Twitter until the end of July to vacate.

The line of credit ran out a few months back and Twitter failed to make any additional payments.

TechCrunch unearthed another Colorado lawsuit aimed at Twitter, as a local cleaning company claims the social media site didn't pay its bills, totaling nearly $100,000 for services rendered.
