Many Ukrainians have come to a painful conclusion: international law cannot stop atrocities. It cannot save lives.

It’s also applied selectively against weaker states, while the lawmakers act with impunity. Hence the atrocities in Palestine play out with the full blessing of USA, UK & EU. I can’t blame Ukrainians for thinking international law can’t save them from the likes of Putin.

Not sure he can feel much through all that blubber

He’s not in the running, no. He would need enough nominations for that. But like all far right grifters, he’ll say anything.

If we as nations can’t summon our morality for something as extreme as this …

I know what you mean. I feel like I’ve lived through an experience. Actually, I hadn’t thought of the light until you said it just now. They did time it perfectly to include that. I must watch it again!

Victoria (2015) does that for me. Maybe it's because the whole movie is recorded in a single take, but it holds my attention in a way most others don't. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victoria_(2015_film)

It’s definitely not, but thanks for the suggestion. I even remember the file name Ashley.bmp (or .gif), but I didn’t mention it because I had my doubts. The model in the photo I found is named Ashley and has the same very unique pose (although the version we had was grayscale, low res and likely cropped ).

I saw it on a friends computer before we had CDs or internet. This is Ireland so internet and CDs were possibly a big thing elsewhere like the USA. I’ve found the hi-res colour version of the exact photo (linked in my OP now). Would still love to find the actual file. I remember it being called Ashley.bmp (or .gif).

It seems it was not bundled with Windows. That opens up all kinds of questions about how my friend got it on his computer :) I’ve added the link to my OP.

Sorry to hear that :/ I found a version of the photo (see my post edit). But the version I saw in the 90s was grayscale, low res and had no text. But if you visit the new link in my post you can see it.

Nice list, thanks. I’ve actually found it and updated the post with a link.

Does anyone remember this? I think it was a grayscale image. It was head shot, or upper body (at most) of a woman in a white top. She might have been wearing a hat.

We used to open it in Paintbrush and marvel at how easily we could mess it up with just a few pixels, but could never draw anything like it. I think it was a low-res photo. Any help appreciated!

It is not the picture sometimes described as "jennifer poses in golden shirt".

Edit: ~~It did not appear to be a scan, either~~. It likely only had about three or four colours (white, grey, black).

Edit 2: I think I"ve found the model: Ashley Montana. I wasn't sure if it was a real person or pixel art. It was part or all of this image, minus any text: https://media1.popsugar-assets.com/files/thumbor/mKDBF_mMShvBUG92qG6R5Q_6-ps/fit-in/1024x1024/filters:format_auto-!!-:strip_icc-!!-/2014/02/11/926/n/1922398/758f5e1e3ceb3026_0211_large/i/1991.jpg

The colour palette was significantly reduced too. Thanks for the replies! I'd still like to find the original BMP/GIF that was distributed, if anyone knows it.

Edit 3: Here’s my edit to make it look like how we had it, at least to the best of my memory: https://ibb.co/WN8wZ1K3

I got a nice set of wired headphones and a portable music player (Snowsky Echo Mini). It’s been great. I don’t feel the need to have the phone beside my bed as much and I can go out with my phone on me, but switched off.

I’m thinking about what other use I could separate from the phone, but I think for me that music was the main one. Podcasts would be harder because of how frequently they update.

I’ve also found having a Rubik’s cube on me as well as a yo-yo has kept me off my phone even longer.

What do you think would be a substantial use case you could separate from your phone?

17° is my limit like 🥵

I'd like to just casually boot straight into a game sometimes, or at least a mounted floppy. I don't want to type commands is DOSbox for casual situations like this.

I'm focussing on games that can run straight from the floppy drive. Thanks!

Edit: I tried variations of this command in the macOS terminal:

/Applications/DOSBox\ Staging.app/Contents/MacOS/dosbox -c "imgmount a '/Users/io/Downloads/Prince.img' -t floppy" -c "a:" -c "dir /p"

The idea is that it would open DOSbox in the A: location, run dir /p. I should see prince.exe listed. Unfortunately what actually happens is I'm given a listing of Z: instead. When I try to switch to A:, I'm told that it needs to be mounted first. But I thought my terminal command takes care of that.

I get this prompt sometimes when I connect my phone to my computer. It doesn't tell me what items it's referring to, but I know I don't want anything on my computer that isn't there already. But it looks like if I don't go ahead with it, the mystery items will be removed from my phone.

Anybody know what the thinking is behind this? Maybe it's just a sync setting I've set myself, but it reads like some kind of crazy ransom note :)

I chose 'Don't Transfer' in the end. I have no idea what the consequences are. I don't notice any differences on my phone.

MusicBee on Windows has a plugin that achieves this. On macOS I can only find one (Album Flow), and it works only with my Apple Music library.

I'm looking for something that works independently, with a directory of music I point it to. Does anything like this exist today?

I've done quite a bit of searching, I hope I'm missing something obvious because it's an extremely intuitive and accessible way to browse and listen to music. Thanks!

I'm looking for something quality without spending much more than EUR 50. I'm guessing the best way to go is a refurbished or second hand Playstation controller? (currently boycotting Microsoft). I appreciate any recommendations.

I see some good looking budget options but then read about occasional lag issues, stuck buttons or incompatibility with games. But these are designed for major consoles so maybe that's all irrelevant when it comes to macOS compatibility. I'm totally green here. Thanks!

I have an SSD bay (left), an ARM computer (Center) and a plug board (right). They’re wired together as well as to the router above. The problem is that it’s hard to clean the floor.

Is there a way to improve the setup so it’s less obtrusive? Every time we move the stuff to clean the floor the server goes down and needs a reboot. It’s such a pain.

Edit: thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'm going to swap the plug board for a double adapter. That way, they can be plugged in behind the locker leaving one less thing to deal with.

I'll either put the remaining stuff on the locker or else get a raised platform / stool for underneath.

From wikipedia:

The Spitfire's airframe was complex. The streamlined, semi-monocoque, duralumin-skinned fuselage had a number of compound curves built up over a skeleton of 19 formers, also known as frames. These started from frame number one, immediately behind the propeller unit, to the tail unit attachment frame. The first four frames supported the glycol header tank and engine cowlings. Frame five, to which the engine bearers were secured, supported the weight of the engine and its accessories. This was a strengthened double frame which also incorporated the fireproof bulkhead, and in later versions of the Spitfire, the oil tank. This frame also tied the four main fuselage longerons to the rest of the airframe. 60l Behind the bulkhead were five U-shaped half-frames which accommodated the fuel tanks and cockpit. The rear fuselage started at the 11th frame, to which the pilot's seat and (later) armour plating were attached, and ended at the 19th, which was mounted at a slight forward angle just forward of the fin. Each of these nine frames was oval, reducing in size towards the tail, and incorporated several lightening holes to reduce their weight as much as possible without weakening them. The U-shaped frame 20 was the last frame of the fuselage proper and the frame to which the tail unit was attached. Frames 21, 22 and 23 formed the fin; frame 22 incorporated the tailwheel opening and frame 23 was the rudder post. Before being attached to the main fuselage, the tail unit frames were held in a jig and the eight horizontal tail formers were riveted to them. 61]

I'm finding a lot of threads with no replies and I'm wondering if openSUSE community congregates elsewhere or is it just a quiet community in general.

I can remember kerb ball and 40/40. I can’t remember how 40/40 worked mind you.

The reason I ask is I saw a video ages ago of adults playing the street games we used to play and it looked like a lot of fun.
