I’m a moral pluralist & converted to Unitarian Universalism. Both add depth & detail to how I think about morality:

• My faith has 7 principles, most of which seem common sense to me. Everyone has inherent dignity & value; seek justice & compassion; accept one another and encourage spiritual growth; everyone should have a free search for truth; belief in democratic systems; goal of world peace; we’re interdependent.

I studied ethics & normative theory in college. I do think there are moral facts or truths (moral realism). I reject relativism because it opens the door to human tragedies.

My MiL is deep MAGA. The only thing true is that whatever the outcome, she will regurgitate the Trump talking points. They could tell her Maxwell was a secret agent for Trump in the 90s, and she would buy it.

I don’t know if you’re close to anyone MAGA, but it is truly a blind cult. The Right just needs to find a palpable enough angle to spin.

I agree that I don’t really want these relationships or to support them.

Some people would argue “promoting homosexual relationships harms the society”, as in “They promote sex that doesn’t procreate.” Or “It’s a sin.” In my opinion, they are wrong, but I’ve probably heard that argument this week (people saying stuff like rainbows in class rooms is homosexual propaganda).

To add to your argument, I would probably point at the specific harms rather than the general notion: (1) bad environment cost, (2) bad for mental health since it promotes narcissism & anti-social behavior, (3) exploitative, (4) anti-privacy, (5) better uses for this tech.
