When I go board gaming with friends I always bring a nope card to drop at the dumbest moment I can find, no matter what game We're playing lol

Maybe I was unclear, when I relate potential generated material to controlled substances, I mean in relation to how you obtain it.

You go see a psych, probably go through some therapy or something, and if they feel it would be beneficial you would be able to get material via strictly controlled avenues like how you need a prescription for xanax and its a crime to sell or share it.

(and I imagine..... Some sort of stamping whether in the imagery or in the files to trace any leaked material back to the person who shared it, but thats a different conversation)

Actual pedophiles (a lot of CSA is abuse of power, not pedophilia - though to be clear fuck abusers either way) have a high rate of suicidal ideation because they think its as fucked up as everyone else. Of course we can't just say "sure AI material is legal now" but I could imagine a regulated system accessed via doctors akin to how controlled substances work.

People take this firm "kill em all" stance but these people just feel the way they do same as I do towards women or a gay man feels toward men. It just is what it is - we all generally agree gay isnt a choice and this is no different. As long as they dont act on it, I think we should be sympathetic and be open to helping them live a less tortured life.

I'm not 100% saying this is how we do it, but we should be open to exploring the issue instead of full stop demonization.

I'll watch one when I sit down to watch, then I'll skip it on any further episodes in the same watch session.

Its still around IIRC, been through like 5 versions now. If you're in the military you can use your .mil address and be marked in game as actual military for better or worse lol.

The most surprising part of the whole thing? It was actually a really fuckin solid game. (The original, can't speak for whatever version is out now.)

I am (in the perception of other people) obnoxiously vocal about most things, from civil rights to big tech.

Yes, you're tired of hearing about it. It still FUCKING SUCKS and if you're tired of hearing about it get on the bandwagon and be obnoxiously vocal until we fucking do something about it.

You CAN take steps to limit your exposure in varying levels of effort, the problem is a lot of that means "not using the thing" (ie gmail, Facebook, etc) and most people are not about that life, gripe as they might.

I've paid for private email hosting for over 5 years, run grapheneOS on my phone, my fb is deactivated with messenger having limited perms on my phone and kept in an isolated container on desktop, self host a number of services like password management and storage - etc etc.

Am I safe from big tech? Not completely. There's still 1000 ways your business gets out and about, and on desktop I still use YouTube logged in and all (no yt on phone though.) They're still only getting a small fraction from me compared to other people though.

This is the part that annoys me. If you want to avoid politics in a space, not "take sides," (say, as a business owner) I totally get it. However, if you allow A to be said but somebody engaging with that is "too political" or "rocking the boat" you're very much picking a side - You're allowing speech A but censoring speech B. Thats the definition of taking a side lmao.

I think its universal, really. Americans just feel like its worse here cause we're, well, experiencing it here. Most people are idiots, thats just how it is - we just see it more because the internet lets us interact outside our personal social bubbles.

Its like that meme about expertise, take your concept of "knowing nothing" and cut that in half then you'll be close to most peoples level.
