Any word on whether they're going to start telling good stories?

It's a bit technical, unfortunately, at least the way that I do it. I installed the Whisper and wrote a Python script that uses it to create transcripts of audio recordings, storing them in JSON files. Then when that's done I fire up KoboldCPP with the Command-R model, with a context set large enough to hold roughly two hours of transcript - I rarely have anything longer than that to process. I've got an RTX 4090 with plenty of RAM and VRAM so I can handle a fairly large model. Then I run a second Python script that uses KoboldCPP's API to process the transcripts in various ways - getting a paragraph-long summary, getting a list of action items, and so forth.

I wouldn't be surprised if there aren't better tools out there now specifically for this kind of task, this is just what I cobbled together over the years as these things came out. So might be worth looking around for something like that.

For the glory of the Empire, of course.

Set a local large language model loose on transcripts of some work meetings to generate summaries and lists of action points. For the glory of the empire!

Yeah, so? They were willing to play along as long as America was reasonably well behaved about it. That was the unspoken bargain of America's Cold War and post-Cold War international influence - they got to have plenty of soft power, and in exchange they got to play out their World Police fantasy.

Now that's going to be going away.

Has Gretzky said it? Or is he happy letting Trump speak for him on this?

It's been over a year, it's reasonable to have forgotten some stuff.

<FaceDeer's aide leans over and whispers briefly in his ear, which flicks up in surprise>

Just over a month? Ah. Well.

/r/conservative will always be a nest of Trump support because its moderators are its absolute kings. But the tighter they squeeze their fingers, the fewer genuine participants will stick around. Eventually that'll start to actually cause problems.

Americans pretending to be Canadian while on vacation is a trope that extends beyond Russia.

You forgot Panama, too. And I suppose Gaza.

The U.S. are no longer the leaders of the free world.

Frankly, most of the time that was said it was said by Americans and the rest of us just smiled and nodded politely.

Reminds me of an anecdote I read a while back about a company that was training an LLM and wanted to make it less "sexy", but a programming error flipped the sign on the weight that was being applied during training. Trainers kept trying to penalize it but that was only encouraging it and the result was an extreme horndog AI.

Unfortunately they found the error and fixed it before ship.

Huh. If the case involves classified materials, but any time a lawyer with clearance to work with those materials tries to represent him gets his clearance revoked, seems like that would be grounds to dismiss the charges. The right to representation is pretty foundational to the American legal system.
