It reminds me of this bit from the webcomic Order of the Stick. Sure these bastards croak but only after having enjoyed the fruits of the most brutal imperial machine that has ever existed for most of their lives. Sure the end bit sucks but I'm sure the preceding decades more than made up for even an exceedingly horrible death

ugh trying to study for my archaeology exam tomorrow and I'm having to deal with this surge of grief at the same time. I feel like I'm getting nothing done and I can't focus worth shit. doesn't help that the subject matter is extremely frustrating (the overwhelming majority of archaeology here is corporate archaeology in service of clear cutters, strip miners, and oil companies) and the prof still works in that field so you can tell where his bias lays
America (and other settler states) can only frame things as wars, invasions, battles, or other conflicts
Their method actually does make sense, you just have to remember they aren't cops to solve (boring) crimes like petty theft. Why get it done as efficiently as possible when you can milk it for hours of overtime? 12 hours of footage means 6+ hours of overtime even watching it at x2 speed, and it's the kind of thing you can basically have going on in the background. Cops being willfully ignorant for their own benefit makes sense to me
