You can imagine that calculating that correction (5 million children each year and even if we saved them with Musk's money, he'd still have at least tens of billions left) did not move me to the right on the political spectrum.

We don't need lies to spread our story, only the fascists do. The truth is leftist enough.

I'm onboarding onto Proton now (but WITH my own domain, so I'll never have to change e-mails again (well, unless I turn out to be trans later and change my name)). For mail I've heard of Tuta, I think that's the only serious alternative.

I just edited my comment to include exactly that, thanks!

A few hundred billion divided by a few hundred million is on the order of a thousand, not a million. More specifically: 421 billion divided by 340 million is just over 1200 dollars.

Is doing simple maths impossible when the answer is something you don't like? I thought that was a conservative-only disease.

Be better, leftists!

Instead, say:

If we took Musk's money and use it to help the poor, we would solve world hunger within a decade and prevent 5 million children from dying of hunger each year.

The meme should be:

5 million children die each year and Musk is the richest man in the world

Vs

5 million children are well-fed instead of dying of hunger but Musk only has a few tens of billions left

Source: https://www.wfp.org/stories/we-have-resources-end-hunger-no-child-should-be-allowed-starve

Besides being correct, this has another advantage: it does not reinforce the idea that morals end at national borders.

@SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world could you please make this meme? Or someone else?

Undervalued comment right there. This is better than the OP

US Government policy in WW2 was the opposite of what you're thinking of.

Companies were basically forced by government to cooperate and to work in the public interest / war machine.

They worked real hard to rewrite history in the 50s with the anti-communist propaganda but the USA that won WW2 was quite socialist, more so than any Western country now.

Ouiaboo Lite who knows nothing about tanks and artillery:

Mirage 2000 was better than F-16 pre-AMRAAM and LGBs. Rafale's Electronic Warfare suite is on a similar level as F-35.

(I know the latter is unlikely but I still believe it)

Odd, I've never placed myself on a scale towards fascism before. Usually I'm on the other side.

Took a look at the specification, this is what I found:

For federated servers performing delivery to a third party server, delivery SHOULD be performed asynchronously, and SHOULD additionally retry delivery to recipients if it fails due to network error.

So they should retry. Note that should is not the same as must. So there is no obligation. There is no timeline in the spec about for how long or how often retries should be done. The wording says network error.

My interpretation: the spec leaves a lot of room for implementations to differ. Network problems don't normally last for days though. I'd guess that if your server is down for 5 minutes, you'll still receive most or everything you'd normally receive. I wouldn't trust on that if your server is offline for more than a day.

Honestly, I don't actually know what the IP stuff means. Maybe it will only be applied to patents?

I'm not a lawyer, I just read that this 654/2014 is the bazooka with which the EU will hit back, and I know that much more knowledgeable people than me seem very confident that the EU will hit back so hard when tariffed that Trump probably won't do it. This regulation must be a big part of that.

No idea how it will actually be implemented but the EU Trade Bazooka is real.

He fought racism against Indians but was very well-known to be racist against Black people

It's not hard to find sources for this, really, just try

It's much simpler than that: the Americans are always in charge of international operations.

The Dutch Air Force officers still get soggy about the prize for "the explosion of the year" that they received for bombing a Serbian powerplant. 🤮

An occasional pat on the back is enough, they don't even need to bribe our leaders anymore.
