Yeah, I remember the streaming ability. I never used it for that, I liked it because it was more focused on ratios. Then they started enforcing ratios which you could skip by paying. Basically your download rates would be cut unless your ratio was good. My ratio was always high, but I couldn't really stand how they started muscling people.

I think they tried backpedaling, but most of the scene had already moved back to uTorrent. That's probably why they changed the name to Vuze. This was all a long time ago though and I'm at the age where I'm finally starting to lose some memory of my younger days. They say it's downhill from 50, but really its downhill from 30.

I've never looked into private trackers, tbh, but I may keep an eye out and see what is possible. I'll stay in with the community and maybe something will pop up, but I'm pretty happy with public. I've known my way around torrent safety since '07. The only cease and desist I've ever gotten was because of my ex at the time.

From what I understand, private trackers are something that sort of comes to you rather than asking for them. Back when Demonoid was by invite only (I haven't been there in a long time so I'm not sure how it is now), I made friends with the right people and got in early. I managed to stay in because I was a good seeder and well trusted.

Oh wow, I missed a lot. I guess Deimos went missing? Then it looks like Demonoid got a sort of community fork, but it doesn't seem to exist anymore. Huh. I'm reading that the fork didn't focus on private trackers as much as just getting the old crowd back, it seems. Wild how things have changed.

I was pretty happy with Zen until updates started to bring in some bugs and lag. It takes up the most resources to start and the URL bar peeks out a majority of the time in compact mode. If you prefer new tabs and are in compact mode the side tabs don't hide and cover a large part of your bookmarks bar while on a new tab page and it feels messy.

I went back to Floorp for a bit, but inevitably ended up back on Qutebrowser. The only downside to Qute is half the greasemonkey scripts to bypass YouTube ads don't work and the python-adblock plus Brave adblock don't block first party ads.

You can get around the first problem by adding a shortcut to bring up weblinks that open in MPV, but I haven't found a solution to the second problem yet.

You can let AirVPN choose the port. It will have an option to make it your 1 allowed P2P port. Then go into your torrent client and forward that port in the settings.

lol! Wow, I forgot about this song. I didn't either. I used it for a while, but I remember something going down with it that caused some anger among users and I went back to uTorrent.

I left the torrent scene for a bit and came back around 2016 using Tixati on Windows. Now I'm on Linux running qbit and that's probably where I stay.

I feel that. My feral stray came to me when I was living with friends. We had a falling out and they wouldn't let me take her. It was their place, so I had no say. A couple years later I was visiting my favorite local shelter to play with the cats there and I saw her.

I was so mad. She remembered me and it broke my heart that I could not take her with me at that time, as I had maxed out my cat allowance with my landlord. They didn't even have the decency to tell me. Their cats were not there, so I know they just threw her away and I was livid. I guess they at least had the decency to take her to the shelter...

I lucked out on my feral cat (rest in peace, Midna). She was a kitten I found living in the apartment trash heap. Definitely not owned, as she was much MUCH too young to be an outside cat. I was outside sitting in the driveway humming "Scarborough Fair" and I heard the tiniest mewling as she ran up to me.

All my other cats have been shelter cats. I had a foster kitten that was so sick I could not take my eye off him and he needed antibiotics for most of his kitten life, so I kept him. I'd perch him on my shoulder and do everything with him there. My dad took him in when I had to move and it was adorable seeing him fully grown and draped around his shoulders all day. When he got sick again, my step mom called me and gushed at how good he was about taking his medicine.

But he was a hugger. A full on baby in full grown form and he would velcro to you if you picked him up and want you to hold him for HOURS. And it hurt sometimes. A cat claw in your nipple is not fun and he liked to give free piercings.

I had to opt for AirVPN, but it could be a ticking disaster (see this reply here).

However, unless you're willing to pay a year for something, everything else is pretty high in price. AirVPN at least let me go for three months at the same price as Mullvad.

I had my eye on Windscribe, but just couldn't get behind $9 on a month by month or a year being the next step up for $5. It is an option if you can swallow the $70 for a year though. I just don't like that business tactic on principal.

This community has a lot of VPN recommendation threads too. You might be able to find a thread if you search the community.

Edit: If you do opt for AirVPN and are on Linux, I recommend running it through Eddie. Open Eddie, find the logo on the top left, click and find port forwarding. It will take you to the AirVPN port forwarding page where you can login and set a P2P port.

Cracking the code is:

if (complacency > annoyances) {
  sleep();
} else {
  riot();
}

Wait wait. I just found something. Head to Edit > Preferences > Icon Theme and switch to Legacy.

And bam. Gimp 3 is out, though! Should already be updated if your system is up to date!

But that's where complacency and escapism becomes a large tool against the numbers. Its much too hard to get up and revolt when their favorite show is going to be on at 8 or X streaming service got a new movie. Only a fraction get up to protest when the rest sit back back and mumble under their breaths to their screens.

We need a major fuckup to get them off their couches, you know, something like policing the internet, or crashing the market and causing disgusting inflation rates. Oh wait. Its a shame that we've waited until things got this bad.

I had to switch off of Mullvad for this reason and move to a VPN that allows me to open a port so I can seed properly. Ever since, I've been able to connect with the majority and download/upload speeds have increased by quite a bit. I don't think you need static. AirVPN explains its better not to add exceptions to your firewall or open up your router ports on their port forwarding page. Just leave as is and switch your torrent client to use that port.
