(contesting the assertion in the original image) "Bail" is a word.

Speak for yourself, Tree of Savior grabbed me hard. I could tell that it was not a good game but I stuck it out anyway for months because there was some ineffable part of it that I was just in love with.

And no, I did not have the lingering nostalgia for Ragnarok Online fanning the flames in the background.

(Okay, I realize that I am taking an objectively true fact personally, but still! My opportunities to stand up for this game are few and far between, so just let me have this.)

I saw that at just the right age to be utterly horrified by it. It gave me lots of fears and nightmares. Not necessarily about alien invasion (that was part of it I guess) but more about the breakdown of society and how quickly everyone turned savage, feral and selfish. To me, that was the true horror of the film.

When viewed from that angle, it is a more successful storytelling endeavor than if you view it as an alien invasion movie.

Although the part where they're captured and that one guy gets sucked into the weird orifice on the tripod is still chilling.

Don't feel bad.

I was the computer kid when I was young but I've fallen all the way off and am fine with it.

Quietly? A documentary I saw said that the centers produce an intolerable amount of noise.

Ah no wait that was Bitcoin miners.

They targeted gamers. Gamers.

What is it with you and historical salons?

[–] EtnaAtsume@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Ah, no; you see, historical salons were not websites but instead actual places!

I'll contribute this shrine to Chrono Cross, but the whole site itself is a nice look back at a previous era of design.

Originally it was going to be "over the last twenty years" but I decided to be more flexible.

A lot of discussions about how society has changed or how the world is different always circle around to smartphones, social media, "no one talks to each other in person, they're on their phones always" and the like.

Outside of those topics, what else has changed, by your perception?

I don't have any, I don't want any. But I work with them as part of my job, sometimes all the way down to babies, and damn if I don't love 'em all the same.

I guess it's just nice to have the best of both worlds: the freedom of childfree life and the benefit of being able to play with them, because they are genuinely adorable and fun.

(I realize people probably don't care; I'm mostly posting to post in the name of generating more fediverse content)

This is mostly because I've been bedridden for about a week or so; as well, while this is not the most exciting of posts, I thought that somebody should post something here so that there's content, so I decided to step up.

What games are you guys and gals and non-binary pals playing?

Let them eat each other.

...uh...

As opposed to Lake Biwa, not in Japan.

Konjac noodles, mushrooms, bell pepper and onion. Oh and carrot too. Seasoned kind of at random. If anyone's desperate to know I can try to recall.

Green peppers, onions, white button mushrooms, cauliflower rice, sauteed in avocado oil and seasoned with...eh...whatever. Kinda threw on anything I had lying around, wasn't paying too close attention.

It looked better before it was finished.
