I personally would not , it’s currently 1189 for a refurbished one on Apple UK , these are refurbished as new with a year warranty and you can add AppleCare+ / AppleCare+ Theft and Loss
Also the Apple UK one with have a new battery compared to the new one that has been sat about for 2 years
The new one will probably have to warranty as it will have expired and you may not get Apple to agree to it
