You know there is something wrong when our military soldiers are questioning why they are there. From the article:
"All but one of the six expressed reservations about the deployment. Several said they had raised objections themselves or knew someone who objected, either because they did not want to be involved in immigration crackdowns or felt the Trump administration had put them on the streets for what they described as a “fake mission.”
If our military is talking like this now, then the question begs to be asked. What are they going to do if we end up in a real military conflict? Are they going to question their commanding officers who got their orders from above them?
The way I see it, is that these soldiers are working on a more ethical and moral standpoint compared to the administration. Seriously what have we accomplished doing this? Farmers are plowing under crops because they are spoiling in the fields, also have you noticed the ones screaming that the immigrants are taking away our jobs aren't jumping up and trying to claim those jobs? I believe a lot of that is because they already have jobs and unemployed or underemployed people should take these jobs, where most of them are paid under the table and can barely afford to have a place to live without having another 10-15 people living in the same house.
Do they honestly think that these immigrants want to live with 10-15 other immigrants just to be able to afford rent, even if it is seasonal work?
Or how about the fact that these farmers are telling us, that most American citizens feel that kind of work is below them, and they only last at most a week because they can't handle the hard labor that is required. Plus, a lot of the immigrant workers aren't afraid to work in the heat for low pay.
The true problem isn't about the immigrants, but how the employers, or farmers, generally pay immigrants low wages so they can keep their costs down and make a bigger profit on slave labor practices. Immigrants aren't taking our jobs away, they are doing the jobs that almost 90% of Americans feel is below them.
I agree the storms are unpredictable in what they will do. Christ, I’ve even had rain a clear sunny day with very little scattered clouds that don’t show up on radar.
This is just a natural disaster. I lived through the flood of 1993 in Des Moines, Iowa. I was a security patrol officer patrolling the streets for the Des Moines Grand Prix and watched the record flooding of Des Moines in real time. The streets downtown were flooded within an hour, not a single storm in the area for a week or two.
The waters backed up clear from the Mississippi River which is over 2 hours away. It flooded the Des Moines river and the Raccon river. It flooded downtown Des Moines, the water works (which was knocked off line and destroying water supplies 4 towns away in all directions of the compass.
We had warning of possible flooding and that was it. Water was up to 10 feet deep in some areas, and even more around the water works. Dukes and levies failed around town. Sandbag walls were destroyed by the rapidly raising water. They called it a 100 year flood.
My point is, nobody blamed it on anyone. We all pulled together and helped our neighbors, friends and families without complaint. And FEMA was there within 12 hours with supplies and water for people. These items were distributed by the Iowa National Guard working on behalf of FEMA.
We need to stop blaming people, politicians, NWS and cloud seeding for this. No one is to blame for this disaster except Mother Nature. Weather cannot be controlled like people seem to think it can.
