the Chromebooks with ARM processor (the majority of the cheaper ones) are notoriously known to be awful to install any alternative operating system

Found Footage movies are kinda easy for this thread in particular

Trollhunter is my favourite from that "genre"

yea also custom domain with catch-all + custom rules on mailbox.org is hilariously powerful and allow you to use an own email address + its own folder for every website without actually creating any alias beforehand

I also have a hard time understanding how 2,5€ a month is to expensive for someone who most likely owns Apple devices since iCloud is really awful to use without at least one Apple device

this depends on how you installed it

If you expose ports on IPv4 or IPv6 (port forwarding) anyone can access the service behind these ports if they know your address but so do you too

yes just like with a static IPv4

This year I started using DynDNS with only my IPv6 address since IPv4 is behind CGNAT and it actually works quite well nowadays

FSR works on Intel and Nvidia graphics too

that sounds like some cheap Chromebook and Chromebooks are not really fun to replace the ChromeOS with GNU/Linux and most people resent to Crostini or Crouton instead which works on top of an existing ChromeOS though

the most important thing here is however the model name of the Chromebook which will determine how easy this process will be and if there actually issues on hardware (like Microphone, Speakers or Trackpad not working correctly on GNU/Linux)

Both CalyxOS and LineageOS fixed the Screen lock exploit found last year: https://bugs.xdavidhu.me/google/2022/11/10/accidental-70k-google-pixel-lock-screen-bypass/

"Stock" Android by Google still has the exploit unfixed, so custom roms here are actually more secure

GrapheneOS doesn't supoort EOL (End-of-Life) Pixel phones but other custom roms like CalyxOS or LineageOS still support it with monthly updates
the installer of CalyxOS in particular is really easy to use, not even close as complicated to whatever hops you need to jump for Samsung or Xiaomi phones

I'm kinda sad what I replaced my Pixel 3 with CalyxOS on it, especially the finger print sensor is just miles ahead of what ever the Pixel 7 is
using the custom rom without Goolge Play Services also helped with the battery a bit
