Don't know about the cayenne pepper. I got 1kg for $5 at the grocers and just spread a line where I didn't want them to cross. I reapplied it after rain and they didn't go near it.

They're funny creatures. One of ours who we didn't think really liked any of us has pined for our boy away at camp. He came home this afternoon, she hasn't left this spot. Also note the JRT who is miffed, because she's usually the one with the boy.
It's a roll in a roll, or that's what we called it on high school. Your next challenge is a dimmy roll with soy sauce.
They don't tend to go near it at all. I've used it on a fence as a paste to keep a neighbourhood cat our of my yard, and to keep my own contained before I built their cat run.
