You can bomb soldiers. You can bomb soldiers mixed with civilians. You can even bomb civilians making weapons in a factory. But you can't just starve and bomb civilians for no reason. And you can't bomb 100 civilians because there is 1 suspected fighter. Has to be proportional.

There are no very clear reasons to distrust proton, but is it just me that finds them releasing a 2FA app kinda disturbing? Like, why waste the resources? What could they do better than Aegis, which is already FOSS and privacy preserving? If there is no reason, than I have to wonder if the hidden reason is to get more data into their ecosystem. This makes me wonder where else you could donate. You could send money directly to specific candidates, but I wonder if someone trusted like AOC could run a collection and distribute the money to true progressives to replace the DNC, especially for primaries. After all, money is how the DNC remains relevant and hard to replace. It's also the main way they ensure their picks win primaries.

Your goal is reasonable, I don't really disagree. The issue is as mentioned, that these people don't keep their money as cash, so cash expiring would not take their wealth away, just like inflation doesn't right now.
