Then we can agree to disagree. I think they look similar, strikingly similar when hue shifted. Also I'm far from the first person to see this similarity and take issue with it. That and the fact this one was more used when I was on Reddit I felt this one was the best one for community branding. We can agree to disagree.

It's the one the sub on Reddit used when I joined, also I personally prefer the Purple and green aro + ace combo flag. Also I don't feel like this flag entirely accurately represents AroAce since it looks like a combo of the Lesbian and MLM flags and I don't know about you but I don't think a combo of lesbian + MLM is an accurate depiction of us.

Lesbian Flag top + MLM flag bottom

(With hue shift in case the similarity isn't obvious enough)

Just wishing everyone a happy pride month.

This is really messed up considering that many instances out there aren't affiliated with Lemmy.ml and might even defed from them.

Also before someone comes in here whining that they shouldn't use lemmy, fuck off. This is Open-Source software. No one has any obligation to affiliate with or even support the devs by using it. You should also realize that "Migrating to new software" means starting a brand new instance, as the DB and User registrations are not compatible.

I hope you're all having a good day so far. Not really much more to say just wishing everyone a happy Agender Pride day.

Instance owners can’t just rip out Lemmy, shove in Mbin and call it a day, sadly it’s not that simple.

That was really my whole point, since the databases aren't compatible. A switch from Lemmy to something else would reboot the instance completely. But also it's not necessary for instances that aren't lemmy.ml. Maybe some instances out there are loyal to .ml but that doesn't mean all of them are. This one certainly isn't and neither is my main one dbzer0.

I’m not saying people must move away from Lemmy but I do want to remind people that Lemmy is not the only option and that moving from Lemmy to something else in the fediverse won’t be as painful as moving from Reddit to Lemmy.

That's good, I see a surprising amount of people saying that users and instance owners should switch to piefed or mbin over this as a form of "boycott" which I think is dumb because we don't have any onligation to give money to the devs, to support them, or even to federate with them. This instance banned nutomic for his transphobic rhetoric, and quokk.au defederates all of .ml as a whole.

I saw this earlier in !meanwhileongrad@sh.itjust.works and it's pretty bad. I'm in favor of defederation, at the very least to help cut some of .ml's network effect on the Fediverse. Since many of their communities are insanely large and they're also very well known for banning people for let's just say less than justified reasons. Nutomic's transphobia is really the last straw in my opinion. If people are interested in looking for alternative to popular .ml communities, !de_ml@lemmy.blahaj.zone is a good place to look.

I don't think anyone needs to stop using or break away from Lemmy like people say. Lemmy is open-source and can easily be forked. Lemmy's devs don't have the authority to deny people from using Lemmy either. Instances operate independent of them, and since many instances are already here and using Lemmy, switching to something completely different and incompatible would be extremely damaging.

If instances aren't willing to moderate themselves when it comes to transphobia they should get the boot. I hope more instances defederate feddit.uk over this. Might make them change course and rethink if they should maybe moderate better.

Late reply, these people are just complaining they were banned for being assholes and that this space doesn't let thinly veiled bigotry and gatekeeping slide like many places do. I don't think we need clearly defined rules for people to try and look for loopholes, there aren't any loopholes to not being an asshole and not being a bigot, you can either be a bigot or not be one. Introducing a list of rules just makes it easier for people to look for loopholes and claim that they were banned unfairly. Better to not give them any benefit.

These people can fuck off, how is it anyone else's business if someone else doesn't want to have sex with and isn't sexually attracted to other people? Like for real, other people's sex lives or lack there of is not any of your business. So this rhetoric that asexuality should be cured, or talking about them "finding the right person" shouldn't even be a thing.

For those who don't know what gender abolition is. Gender Abolition, also known as post-genderism is the belief that gender stereotypes are harmful and restrict people's ability to present the way they want that makes them feel happy. Gender abolitionists seek to eradicate gender stereotypes and restrictions associated with them to create a more free and accepting world.

For clarification, Gender abolitionists do not agree with TERFs or any similar rhetoric, anyone from those groups claiming to be "Gender Abolitionists" or "Gender Critical" are not real gender abolitionists and are appropriating the term. Real Gender abolitionists believe that people have the right to bodily autonomy and self-identification. That means in short, Gender abolitionists respect and stand up for trans rights.

As of right now I have disengaged the community's lock and people are free and able to post here. On Federated servers this change may take a while to propagate, especially ones physically farther away from lemmy.blahaj.zone.

Please make sure to follow the rules of the community and lemmy.blahaj.zone when posting.

Static IPs you have to pay for them though if I'm not mistaken. They can get new ones but it would cost them.

[–] Draconic_NEO@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 5 months ago (3 children)

Really hoping they do. This could go very badly if they switch to the new domain and all the servers who defederated them are now suddenly federated again.

It would be good if Lemmy had an option to do it by IP as well, though I guess one already can by using their server's firewall to block all traffic to that IP on the Lemmy server.

Ok I've added you, welcome to the team (I weirdly wasn't able to comment immediately after adding you).

Their new domain is chapo.chat. We should probably block it now so they don't get a chance to use it to bypass defederation of their server by other instances.

After all they were defederated for good reason.
