I think for a lot of libs it's this willingness to say 'No, things shouldn't be like this" that makes them so angry when people push them from the left. They take it as a mark of their sophistication and maturity that they have constructed an elaborate series of excuses that mean no one should be mad, liberalism is the best things can realistically be. Given that a lot of criticism from the left comes from people who clearly know and care a lot about how things actually are and make an effort to understand what's happening, they can't just handwave you away like they do to CHUDs, and they're not prepared to defend the premise that things HAVE to be this way, they've just assumed that.

Yeah the optics are shit and hard to massage. You have to make it about protesting being violence and antisemitism because there's no way to sugarcoat all the dead children in Gaza and the rolling discovery of mass graves.

Yeah my grandparents still talk nostalgically about the good old days when the government knew how to deal with communists. How unfair everyone was to Nixon.

yea

Looks like it's "only" sensitive health information at least, not like, SSNs or card information.

Obviously there might be context missing that makes "approach them and make your intentions clear" more risky or intimidating, but if they help you directly you could just propose getting a drink or something if you were having some good banter, like "this is fun and I enjoy talking to you, wanna get coffee sometime?" Or whatever.

If you both are nervous and struggle with the banter you could go the middle school route and like, slip them a note or something with your number and that you want to hang out sometime. You probably already thought about both of these methods though. Sorry if I'm not helping.

Downside of acting on the impulse is that it might be awkward getting service from the deli if it doesn't go well. Have a backup grocery store I guess? I think that can be helpful though, keeping the stakes in mind and not letting your mind run wild with exaggerated fears. Worst case scenario you're where you started, except maybe you go to a different deli.

Yeah people should keep in mind, this is how liberals feel about you. They will humor you as long as they think they can get something from you, but this is the response to a challenge from their left that they always have in the back of their minds.

I already feel sorry for the poor kids of the dumbest meatheads and wannabe-meatheads in the world who followed the advice of their idol and fathered a number of children for his approval rather than out of any interest in being a parent.

It's illegal, at least in some states, to sell for human consumption. The places that do it have warnings on the bottles that they are not for human consumption. They know what they're doing though.

I got tired of feeling like MMOs were trying to waste my time. When I was a kid it was fine, I had some time to waste, but my 'realization' was that all the MMOs I tried made the game worse, deliberately, in order for you to pay to get around the intentionally bad design and save time.

Since I was in it to be social, minecraft servers or just about any co-op game could do that for me without being stupidly designed to use time I no longer had to spend on chopping wood or whatever.

Just in time for Blinken to go ask the Chinese to be nice and cooperative with us!

Where are the appendices? Neither of my versions of Volume 1 appear to have them. I found a version with an appendix on the value-form when I went searching but that's it.
