The British government has reportedly tasked a specialist police unit to surveil social media for anti-mass migration opinions as it braces for another potential summer of unrest.

Rather than address the concerns of the public, such as removing the mostly young male illegal migrants from the taxpayer-funded hotel accommodations in communities across the country, the UK Home Office has formed the National Internet Intelligence Investigations to “maximise social media intelligence” about anti-mass migration sentiment on social media, according to The Telegraph.

The team will work out of the Covid lockdown-enforcing National Police Coordination Centre (NPoCC) in London.

It comes amid protests outside of migrant hotels, starting with the Bell Hotel in Epping, where locals have staged several protests after an illegal from Ethiopia was accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl from the area. Protests against planned migrant hotels have also broken out in Norfolk and London.

While mostly peaceful, the government is reportedly deeply concerned of a potential re-run of last summer’s riots, which broke out in the wake of a second-generation Rwandan teen, Axel Rudakubana, stabbing three young girls to death and injuring ten others at a children’s dance party in Southport. Anger over the horrific attack sparked protests and riots across the UK, during which migrant hotels were targeted in violent incidents

What makes you think I am trying to convince you of anything? You can be as miserable as you want to be. Doesn't bother me at all. I think it's a waste, but you are in charge of yourself. So feel free to be unhappy about everything. Your life. I definitely don't live that way though.

alright soothsayer, i didn’t realize you know how i spend my time.

Oh so you're not doomscrolling all day? So you aren't just looking at negative stuff all day? Because your attitude online seems very down and depressing.

You gave your opinion based on your experiences. And I gave you my opinion based on my experiences.

Do you think my opinions are any less valid than yours? Since they are both based on our personal observations, don't you agree they are equally valid?

And by the way, I hope I'm wrong about your habits. I think it would be a shame if you were doomscrolling all day and overlooking all the amazing postitive things that are happening in the world around you. Being depressed all day and just focusing on bad news isn't very healthy.

my comments reflect my lived experience.

And my comments reflect my lived experience.

i’m glad everything is working out for you, but you’re being willfully ignorant if you think it’s great for everybody.

And I’m sorry that not everything is working out for you, but you’re being willfully ignorant if you think it’s bad for everybody. In fact, for most people, life is good.

You're just doomscrolling all day and ignoring all of the positive things going on around you. Are you this depressed in real life or just online?

consider how you’d feel if one of your loved ones got disappeared in an ICE raid.

I don’t have any loved ones here illegally or anyone close to me who’s facing deportation due to criminal activity. That said, I still empathize with people going through that.

As for our immigration system, we take in more legal immigrants every year than almost any other nation. So while our system can be strict in some ways, especially for asylum seekers and undocumented migrants, we still have one of the most generous legal immigration systems in the world.

Are you out there protesting all the other countries that have much more strict immigration laws than we do?

Your life would be a lot happier if you didn't take Lemmy so seriously. LMAO. Dude, it's a link to a popular news site. That's it. You act like it's causing the end of the world.

Guess what? World ain't going anywhere. I am all those things that you said were in danger, but here I am having a great life and having a great time.

President Donald Trump announced Tuesday he had reached a settlement with CBS and Paramount triggered by a 60 Minutes interview with Vice President Kamala Harris.

'We have just achieved a BIG AND IMPORTANT WIN in our Historic Lawsuit against 60 Minutes, CBS, and Paramount,' Trump wrote on Truth Social. 'Just like ABC and George Slopadopoulos, CBS and its Corporate Owners knew that they defrauded the American People, and were desperate to settle.'

Trump said that Paramount/CBS/60 Minutes paid $16 million in the settlement and anticipated an additional $20 million from the new owners of CBS in advertising, PSAs or similar programming.
