I know very little about the several Indian languages and scripts but are some of these even somewhat related? Like in the same way Latin, Cyrillic and Greek are all related?

I think it’s only useful to discuss it with the right nuance behind it. And for the record, I feel the same way about all discourse.

Very little of value can come from a conversation that starts with a sweeping generalisation or a broad statement, and most of the time, we will find much more valuable insights in nuanced debate that doesn’t try to stroke an emotional chord with an audience.

The logic is simple: “men feel society treats them unfairly when they’re in a violent situation with a woman, so I will make a post appealing to that feeling, but removing any sort of nuance that might explain some of the reasoning and potential exceptions in those situations, all with an excuse of gender equality.”

That’s not how Nazis and other disgusting groups operate, though. Once they’re part of a community, they’ll start trying to get any other unknowing people interested in their content, so they start creating communities in disguise, trying to gain any new members, and make sure anyone who feels like an outsider, like they don’t belong, will feel welcome there, which in turn only strengthens those types of communities.

4chan used to be a pretty diverse community, which while it was definitely always pretty intense and insensitive, had a bit of everything, but after the American 2016 elections, /Pol/ started spreading to other boards until the /Pol/ folk became a very sizeable group everywhere else.

I think that makes sense. Most likely scenario is that we’re just kind of average all around. Just another one of millions, trillions, uncountable numbers of species that have done the same and eventually perished.

We’re probably not special in any way, and just another ant in a colony of ants.

It's why I think Lemmy has great potential. First and foremost, it's well-designed and the UI is very easy to use. There still needs to be a lot of work in terms of making it palatable and understandable to first-time users and newcomers. Because right now, it's a bit hard to grasp what exactly is going on at first. But once you get the hang of it, it can easily work as an improved reddit. I'm legitimately thinking of never going back to Reddit at this point. There's no reason to do so, especially when decentralized communities have much more potential to create more specific spaces with specific types of people.

Like, I was thinking that with a decentralized system, you could for example create communities exclusively for professionals in one area. Like, you could have a community that required professional credentials to create an account, for example legal or medical communities, and that way you could raise the expected level of discussion. But at the same time, you can create safe spaces for say, neurodivergent users, or ethnic, sexual, racial minorities in online discourse, and so on. This has so much freedom, I legitimately think this is the way to go.

Is there any chance that we as users can destroy their value before they go public? I don't mind private businesses, but the moment they go public, I'm very happy to boycot them, especially if they're online social networks and similar businesses. Them going public always means destroying their communities and screwing over their users.

I’m kind of worried for the admin, though, since all the hosting is being done by them personally, and as Sopuli grows, that’s bound to get more expensive.

Lemmy’s biggest potential weakness is also its biggest strength: federalised and personal communities can and will go dark all of a sudden, making information and accounts very ephemeral.

Pokemon Theta Emerald Renev is one of my favourites. It's basically Emerald, but with updated mechanics, attacks, and Pokemon, so you can have up to Gen 7 Pokemon in your team. The Pokemon list also means you can complete the Pokedex mostly on your own, and other cool features. Definitely recommend checking it out.
