Oh God, so much this. I do not understand the blind hate for nutrek. Lower decks is hilarious, discovery fucking went for it, Picard gave us three of the most interesting story lines, SNW is throwing some of the best classic style storylines at us we've seen since Shatner could fit in his girdle, Prodigy has done a damn good job of making trek something parents can watch with their bains and not want to blow their brains out.

Honestly, I think a bunch of people (myself included to a degree) got so upset over the Klingons in disco that they've collectively decided anything after that is shit.

You are not alone. There are dozens of us!Dozens!

But fr, I freaking love Disco. Picard was a little more difficult for me, mainly because* I love the character that the big thing in season 2 happened to, and kept waiting for that to become relevant in s3, and it didn't. But other than that, I loved Picard, too.

*I do not know how to spoiler on Jerboa, of that is even possible.

I haven't watched that episode in a looooong time, so I can't really contribute too much to the conversation. But the vibe I got (and I may be misremembering) was that Sisko was trying to let her know she could be that person, if she wanted to be. She could be Fenna, because she was Fenna. A sort of "the [Fenna] was in you all along" type moment.

I'm mainly posting here because DS9 is my absolute favorite series (close second is ENT), and I'll happily contribute to any ds9 talks. Lol. Is there a community for ds9? I haven't found out, but that could just be lemmy search shenanigans.

Polarize the hull plating, too!

Honestly it has made the reddit transition so much easier. I genuinely don't miss reddit at all anymore since I've found this one. Thanks for all that y'all do!

I've watched ds9 more times than I care to admit, and I totally agree. The second season isn't the best season, but it's damn good. Honestly, it's sisko that doesn't get good until later. Dude needed to find his footing, but that's one of the things that makes it so good. It felt real. He was coming off a major loss, a major shift in his career, and now he's got a shape shifting cop, ferengi bartenders, filthy, filthy spoon heads on his flank, and he has to deal with the very uncomfortable nature of being quasi-worshipped by an entire planet. That's a tough transition!

Can't even blame em. Started out in lemmy.world and switched to startrek.website the first time .world went out and someone explained to me how that works with being overloaded. Haven't looked back sense. The local timeline is awesome, the federation is awesome. It really showcases the benefit of a federated service. It made Lemmy such a great replacement for me, whereas before I was struggling to get into lemmy.

I would unironically watch a Vulcan c span series. Make it a free YouTube series, say 5 minutes, once a week. I'd watch the hell out of that. A bunch of Vulcans pretending they're not angry, passing legislation. Especially if it was set way back in the past before the Romulans left, or way in the future after reunification. I'm not saying it would be everyone's cup of plomeek broth, but it'd totally be mine. Maybe a federation c span instead could be more interesting?

I completely forgot this show ever existed, and I'm pretty sure I watched every episode when I was a kid. Major "Memory: unlocked" moment for me here.

Ooh, I like the idea of animated. And I don't understand prequel hate. I love a good prequel. I'd also love ST legacy. But we're all on streaming services now, it's not like they can't find a time slot for it. Give us all the trek! Paramount+ would make billions. Lol.

Right? I mean, I want desperately for the events of the last episode to be retconned, but even without that, just another crew in that same era would be great. It's a time rife with opportunity.

Honestly, I'd even love a series set around the time of first contact. Zefram Cochrane, early Vulcan diplomats, humanity's first ever foray outside of our solar system... God that would be cool.

The man from Earth. Absolutely incredible film.
