Thank you!

I actually have an appointment with my doc today because of stupid stinky COVID, so I'll ask her about this. I really appreciate the advice. :)

I can, have and do bake cakes without the use of cake mixes. It's not hard, and I normally have most of the ingredients on hand. But cake mixes are very popular, come in a wide variety of flavors/types, and, generally speaking, are pretty good. They're also cheap. And they store well, and efficiently on the shelf or in a cabinet. So it's just super convenient to have one on hand. It also takes like 30 seconds to make. Add water, oil, egg, mix.

Gimme a panic button to press in case of emergency, so that I won't die if something happens, and yeah. I would. Prisoners do solitary confinement, and it's awful, and inhumane, but clearly survivable. I have no problem talking to myself and keeping myself company. I routinely spent 8 hours totally alone 5 days a week as a kid, and yes, I realize this isn't the same. But I believe I could keep my mind occupied, and sleep through most of it. This isn't one of those insane ones, where they do it for a year. It's 48 hours. Sign me up.

Wait until they figure out they can buy the cake mixes, and it's possible to make your own cakes, with as much extra stuff as you want. I once made a cake with embedded cookies, and a peanut butter cream cheese frosting. I regret nothing.

When I first got on lemmy, before I really understood how it worked, and before I had a decent list of communities, I had it set to hide read posts, and would mindlessly like everything in order to get it to load new things I hadn't seen yet. My up vote history gonna be weird. How do I see it?

Physical, actual books? Probably less than 10. I'm one of those heathens that didn't mine adopting ebooks and audiobooks. I've moved somewhere around 20 times, and eventually it just became easier to shift everything to digital and donate my physical books.

How do I add pronouns to my handle like that? I don't know how to change it.

So, not a woman, and not trying to talk over anyone. But perhaps something that could be done is a "women of ____" community on each instance. For instance, !WomenOf@literature.cafe, !WomenOf@Startrek.website, et cetera that's modded in a similar way to witches vs the patriarchy on reddit. A space for women, modded by women. Men aren't banned or anything, but the space is intentionally woman-oriented, be they cis or trans. Each instance could make their own, which would mean dozens of such communities, some generalist, some focused on specific issues, fandoms or interests. At the very least, it may help bring more women to lemmy, and more women on lemmy should help prevent the bro-yness.

Again, though, not a woman, so please do point out if that feels segregationy or something, that's not the intent.

I love the comic, btw! Super cute animation style! I wish I could draw like that. Haha. I can barely do stick figures.

Pixelfed is pretty cool, but not a ton of people on there, yet. But it's easy to share, and can be viewed and interacted with easily with a mastodon account.

"Oh, Mister Neenix, what a wonderful bouillabaisse! You know generally I do not eat fish, but you've made this so exceptional I just cannot stop! You know, once, on Varathon Three, I had a dish made with Aldronian cabbage that reminds me of this. Oh you'd positively ADORE Varathon Three, everyone there has a nap 8 times a day, and they never developed the nasty propensity of most humanoids to wear clothing. A simple wonderful society, Mister Neenix! You must come with me on my next visit!"

"Madam, will you marry me?"

It's amazing what a parent deciding to try crack at 45 years old will do to a kid. Thank God Mama was smart enough to get us tf outta there. But yeah, I got the whole "old soul" thing my whole childhood.

Love it! Will be checking it out. :)

And welcome to Lemmy! Can I also suggesting sharing on Pixelfed in addition to Instagram?
