Thank you! Difficult situation, but I feel it's the best decision for me to make. I need to force myself to get off my ass and outta that nursing home; lest I still sit there at 50 and none the wiser...

Thanks! Yeah, every massive downside has a little upside too.

Yesterday I had a talk with my current higher-ups about terminating my contract, or rather letting it run out at the end of the year.

You see, I have a fixed-term/temporary contract that ends on the 31. December 2025. They wanted to extend it, but I declined. Gave my own personal health matters and those of my parents as a reason; I simply want to be near if something happens and there's already a lot going on besides my issues with the current job. They were disappointed, but overall rather understanding.

That means I now need to search for a job fast during December; thankfully nursing is a career field with a high fluctuation and a massive staff shortage; I'm quite confident that I'll have a new workplace ready by January 1st. Already sat down to bring my CV up to date, but now the late shift awaits...

Hope you fine folks have a great weekend ✌🏻

I was always wondering why so many artisans hired/collaborated with him to scent their products, now I know - he can do fresh interesting citrus like GraveFruit II as well as dark spicy barbershop scents like The Master.

Unfortunately I couldn't find a link to an american shop that carries that soap for you 😕 tariffs make ordering from Italy, Greece or Germany totally unviable for you in the US.

Yeah, he's really good. We did your Noir for one BVWSC and it was a really interesting scent to me too... My other LJdJ is "Masala Connection" and I think you'd appreciate that scent even more. Bergamot, Cinnamon, Patchouli, Black Pepper, Cedar, Leather and Tonka Bean - it's a very bold scent. The Witcher has a bit more sweetness due to the vanilla, Masala Connection is basically just spices, wood and leather. I don't know how these work so well as a combination, but they somehow do...

So far I haven't had a single product scented by Shawn Maher that I disliked. Truly a master perfumer.

26. November 2025

  • Brush: AP Shave Co. black & clear handle w/ 30 mm Tuxedo Fan knot
  • Razor: Leaf Thorn
  • Blade: Derby Premium
  • Lather: Los Jabones de Joserra - The Witcher
  • Post Shave: Zingari Man - The Master
  • Alum: Osma Alum block

2 passes on the head, 1 on the neckline. A great shave except for one nicked mole on my neck.

This combo is slowly becoming one of my personal all-time favourites, the spicy notes in both scents are working wonderfully in conjunction. Thankfully, no tingling or any other adverse reactions from the soap anymore. I don't know what was the cause during my first use of it. The Vetonia base is top notch; unfortunately José doesn't have a dedicated internet presence for his business so his goods could be even more well-known.

'nuff said. Enjoy your Wednesday, folks 👍🏻

The swiss way sounds like the most logical solution to the problem you named - rarely, if ever, will an old kitchen setup fit another flat's kitchen space.

The cable story sounds dangerous though, really good nothing worse has happened...

After looking at images, I tend to agree. There's a bleak coldness to these counters that makes it look like a prison canteen. Nevertheless, good neutral background for your photos. 👍🏻 I'm a renter too, but the flats/apartments over here rarely include any furniture.

It's definitely interesting. To me, the rubber note in VoA is like skid marks on a race track from slamming the brakes, drifting, etc. The citrus note is definitely prominent, just usually more drowned out by the harsher scent notes for me. So my nose doesn't even reliably work the same every time! 😂

A full stainless steel kitchen counter? Impressive 👌🏻

Tabula Rasa - 23. November 2025

  • Prep: Urtekram Face Wash
  • Brush: AP Shave Co. black & clear handle w/ 30 mm Tuxedo Fan knot
  • Razor: Leaf Thorn
  • Blade: Derby Premium (3)
  • Lather: Southern Witchcrafts - Valley of Ashes
  • Post Shave: Southern Witchcrafts - Valley of Ashes
  • Post Shave: Lavera Men Sensitive ASB

single pass head shave, great shave ; single pass on the face except moustache, soul patch and broader chin area - good shave

This sounds very stupid on my part, but now it was the shortest time I ever had a full goatee. What was supposed to just be a minor trim of the areas under my mouth directly to the sides of my soul patch turned into a full-blown re-styling and shave thanks to a mishap. Small PSA: if you're using a trimmer, no matter for what area, make sure you have a) the right guard comb on it, b) any guard on if you're not doing detailing/contouring. In my case, I had absolutely no guard on my zero gap trimmer and zing! one of the connection areas between moustache and chin fluff was erased. Well, shit happens - I trimmed the remaining hair into the shortest stubble possible with the 1.5 mm guard and went ahead with my shave - just with a bit more areas to cover with lather than originally planned 🤔

I'm still amazed how good VoA can smell if you get it just right. Today, while the trimmer luck had forsaken me, the wetshaving gods smiled at me and blessed me with a really great lather. Under all the dank leather and burnt rubber, I can get a little citrus/bergamot note and I simply stopped to be frustrated at my mistake. Like Bob Ross said, maybe it's all just happy accidents. This soap can get really slick and it treated my skin well during the shave.

I was kinda impressed how well I managed to freehand style some kind of stubble anchor beard. The basic henriquatre shape was still noticeable in short form, but there was also a bit of longer scruff grown around it and I had to shave the previous "connection areas" right below the moustache and above the classic chin goatee part. Full disclosure, I didn't do that with the 30 mm brush, but squeezed the remaining lather out and dabbed it there with my fingertips. It sure isn't 100% symmetrical, but that's barely noticeable at a stubble length anyways. Now I plan to give my facial hair time for regrowth; the good thing is that beard hair is a renewable resource as it simply grows back.

However, even though it resulted from a frustrating mistake, I had gotten such a good to great shave out of it that I can't be angry about it. Things will happen and sometimes I just need to adapt on the go. Hope y'all had a great weekend and a very relaxing Sunday ✌🏻

I have to ask out of curiosity: is the metallic background in your photos an operating table or a sheet of metal?
