IIRC, there's 2 that do that explicitly - I want to say it was Texas and North Carolina, but I can't be bothered to double check that.

Edit: was bothered by my lack of "bringing the reciepts" in my own comment. It appears 5 of the confederate States called out slavery in their articles of succession (tried to do a quick double check, but jfc did GA have a really long winded one and I ain't got time for that right now)

PS3: Islam never claims to be "the religion of peace;" this phrase was created by Westerners for a variety of reasons, so like what?

As a westerner, I could buy that this is just a piece of propaganda I've just heard too many times, but it seems like I've heard immigrants from Muslim majority countries say this as well.

Probably a stretch to ask (so no worries if you can't provide) but can you point to any resources agreeing with your claim on this?

@PugJesus@piefed.social @hansolo@lemmy.today

I get y'all are beefing hard here, but this has been one of the most fascinating threads I've read in a while. While I'm sure neither of you are happy at the exchange, I am very happy about it and thank you for giving me more info about a place I've spent 0% of my life thinking about.

Oh so instead of white pawn takes black rook, you'd go white rook to g8.

This forces black king to f7. White rook takes black rook, putting black in check.

Black king can escape (which then has white rook takes black queen) or black queen takes white rook (with pawn taking queen and promoting).

Either way blood bath ensues, probably leaving white up some pieces for the exchange. Mkay, I think I see.

I don't know how to read real chess moves.

But black queen must take (new) white queen.

It then seems foolish for white queen to take black queen, since black king must take white queen.

With the board state, white might find it advantageous to exchange queens with his board state, but I think white pushing white queen forward to take the black pawn in front of it would be the better move.

Little of both as I understand it.

Privacy sandbox had some sketchy innovations that would let google track people (but would make third party tracking harder).

There was some legit good things they were pushing and cookies (as they existed at the start of the initiative) were very flawed in their implementation. Some things have become better kind of on their own.

Overall, we're probably best off that they started the initiative, inspired other privacy changes (outside privacy sandbox), and then ultimately gave in before "completing" the project.

It appears to be a widely circulated fan art, appearing on her page of the Fandom Wiki (though Tetsuya Nomura may be an official artist for FFX).

Point is that its accredited to an artist, so it would seem the missing teeth was intentional?

Oh, I thought this was going to be about the trading cards they implemented in steam. Those are so lame and cheap I wasn't bothered by this.

For any non-readers-of-articles, this is about a loot box mechanic added to counterstrike (which is fair criticism imho)

In addition to other comments, its my understanding it was used more as an Axe (for chopping up shields)

Not to come off as a confederate sympathizer, but I'm moderately certain they'd have has some rules about needing a quorum of elected representatives or some such.

So Harry Turtledove's Worldwar series explores an invasion of Earth by small ish reptilian aliens.

My head canon for the aliens and they're differences in culture from humans is that they basically came from pre-meteor Earth and evolved from real velociraptors (which as I understand, were actually only about 3 ft/1 m tall, and were considered the most intelligent/pack forming dinos of their time).

Its an interesting series (if something of a bizarre premise).

For context, I've dabbled in home brewing. I've made ~4 successful batches based on online recipes. I wouldn't call myself an expert, but also not a complete amateur.

So what happens if you don't rack your mead/wine? I suppose the notion I have is to let it set in primary (assuming there's no fruit/spices to remove after initial fermentation) until its fully clarified before going straight to bottling?

I guess I've assumed there is some problem in the clarification step if you don't "get rid of" the dead yeast that precipitates, but I've never seen anything exploring that as a method.

Can anyone offer their experience?

Just got set up with latest update and am having issues with up swipes when scrolling (e.g. on webpages), when up swiping to access open apps/full app listing, and when trying to "back" swipe (i.e. trying to back out of a menu.

To be more descriptive, if I stop scrolling with up swipes, usually the next up swipe won't work and I'll need to do it twice to have it register the gesture.

For opening my list of apps and the full app listing (swiping from very bottom) I usually have to try about 5 times for it to register the gesture. Same for back swiping.

I use the standard Grapheme launcher and haven't installed any new apps since the update. Issue started this morning after the reboot for OS upgrade. I do have a screen protector, but I'm not seeing any issues with any tapping gestures, so I doubt that's the cause.

Is anyone else experiencing this? Anyone know any fixes?

So recently had a hankering for some Pokémon hacks so booted up my old Pokémon Storm Silver ROM (using retroarch with Desmume as emulator).

I spun up a new game and played a bit, but it wouldn't let me save a new game since the ROM had my old save data. I decided to just save the game state with the built in retro arch save state functionality. So beat the champion using save states as alternative save feature with 60 hours on game clock (probably MUCH less due to my abuse of ffw feature).

But when you beat the champion, it dumps you back to the title screen. From there, I can only load my old data (since my current play isn't properly saved in the game data). As such, I can't play any of the post elite four content.

Anyone aware of a workaround where I can erase the games data from a save state? Kinda feels like I'm just SOL.

If I am, let this stand as a warning to other Pokémon fans. Always take the time to clear your old data!

Just recently took the leap to Graphene OS from stock android.

One problem I'm having is getting my apps and keeping them updated. Obviously I've been trying to use F-Droid, Accrescent, and the Grapheme provided app store where I can, but work and friends require me to have apps not available there.

I've been using Aurora Store for everything else, but it seems really buggy (tons of instances where apps won't update, will need ~3 tries to properly install, will notify me there was an error when the app clearly installed, etc). Additionally, I saw somewhere that Aurora store has some privacy/security issues (but didn't dive deeper to see what was meant by that).

I've read Obtanium is another option, but it looks like that still will not meet all my needs.

I suppose I should also say that I'm hesitant to use the Play Store / Play Services at all. I get there's sandboxing around them that makes them less invasive, but I don't full grasp how Graphene accomplishes that / what specifically it prevents.

What are you guys using for your App Stores? Should I just put aside my concerns and trust the sandboxed Play Store?

Appreciate your attention and consideration on this!

I'm a tech interested guy. I've touched SQL once or twice, but wasn't able to really make sense of it. That combined with not having a practical use leaves SQL as largely a black box in my mind (though I am somewhat familiar with technical concepts in databasing).

With that, I keep seeing [pic related] as proof that Elon Musk doesn't understand SQL.

Can someone give me a technical explanation for how one would come to that conclusion? I'd love if you could pass technical documentation for that.

I've heard Reddit is setting themselves up for another major fumble and that it relates to how much Spez is a fanboy of Elon Musk.

I can't find any details on the drama playing out though. Can someone explain the details of what's going on?

I would love to see Lemmy grow with another big "Rexxit" event, but I'm not seeing anything happening to cause one.
