One time, I had this wild popup that said there were system updates available. Madman that I am, I clicked the update button. Goodbye working system. Decided it was time to switch back to Windows 11 for a while.

1-gallon jugs of Arizona iced tea. I drink a ton of the sugar-free Arnold Palmer, and the jugs, as well as their screw on caps, are just high quality. They are thick, high quality plastic, and the cap is sturdy with a good seal. I use them for keeping pre-treated water for topping up my fish tank, isopropyl alcohol for the wash station of my resin 3d printer, and other stuff like that. We also use them for cat food/litter storage and dispensing. I have also used them to store coins, when I had a job that involved cash tips that were mostly coins. I'm sure there are a ton of other uses for such a container. The jug is free if you're going to spend the $3 on the iced tea anyway. Buying a similar quality jug/container at Walmart costs twice as much, or more, and doesn't come with anything to drink inside.

Yep, sure was. I finally decided to switch to freetube last week. No more issues with YouTube. I just wish they had playlists. And a proper equivalent/replacement for the watch later list.

Made the switch from Plex to jellyfin last week. Runs so much smoother, far fewer issues, my NAS isn't lighting itself on fire, and I don't have unwanted features being shoved down my throat every time I open the client app. A few small UI things I don't like, but Plex had just fucked up the exact same UI element on me anyway.

I think it's finally time I get around to setting up a second sonarr instance to customize for anime.

Actually, I just finished importing all of my media to jellyfin a few hours ago, and just opened Plex and jellyfin side to by side, and manually verified everything. Took maybe an hour and a half to carefully look through everything, and just listened to a podcast in the meantime. Only had to manually identify maybe 10 anime, change cover art for 4 or 5, and I was good. Setup the docker version of that jellyPlex-Watched tool, let it do it's thing for another hour, and I'm basically now fully moved over to Jellyfin and ready to go.

And yeah, first thing I did was turn on the nfo file setting. Thankfully, I don't put anything into my library without first manually organizing/naming the internal folder structure, and then using the RenameMyTVSeries app to rename the actual files using data from tvdb. So as long as I have Plex/jellyfin set to be forced to prioritize metadata from tvdb, it is almost always detected correctly. Sometimes it'll decide to identify an anime like One Piece or Witchblade as the live-action show instead, since they have the same name. But that rarely happens, and only needs to be fixed once. And with now having those files sitting in with the actual media files, if I ever have to make another move like this in the future, it should be that much easier.

Thanks for the info. Looks like pretty much everything important has a solution. If the subtitle/audio track settings you mentioned work well enough, then that's a good bonus, not having to load up a separate tool in a browser every time. And yeah, I was planning to run the two side-by-side for a bit to test, and to make sure that everything I want properly replicated gets done, even if I have to do some of it manually. I'm hoping to eventually ditch Plex entirely, it's just so bad, and they keep making it worse. Next, I'll have to go have a look around at any other mods/add-ons/etc that are available and see what else I can do.

I was looking at freetube as a potential solution, as at a quick glance, it seems to do most of the things I want. But honestly, I doubt it will be long before they start implementing systems to block such apps from being able to access YouTube content.

I went the route of accepting their 2-month trial of Premium, and immediately disabled it from continuing after the 2 months. Hopefully that's enough time to come up with an acceptable solution that works the way I want it to. Honestly, if Premium was like $5/month, they'd get my money. But for almost triple that? Fuck no, never happening.

First thing I did when the shorts spam apocalypse started, was create custom ublock filters to strip them out of youtube as much as I could. Too bad I didn't back them up before my system decided to go poof.

Not if the intent is for them to serve the community.
