Don’t act like fictional depictions have no impact on real opinions.
Like this article "How Sci-Fi Like 'WarGames' Led to Real Policy During the Reagan Administration" points out.
I heard about it from RedLetterMedia and decided to check it out based on their recommendation. There was a lot of potential for it to be a waste of time and a cheap throwaway use of its premise but everything about it was obviously carefully planned and executed and it took itself very seriously. If it was something I just saw listed on Netflix I probably wouldn't have even looked into it given the title and subject matter and if I was told about some specifics I would have assumed it was going to be some horror schlock.

Just seemed like a needlessly confusing specific detail to include as it is not a necessity to have any wifi connectivity at all and might mislead OP/readers into assuming it has some relevance to ports. It should be sufficient to just say router unless the question involves SSIDs or related components specific to that connection method.
Just to clarify, nothing about ports requires wifi to be involved at all. It doesn't need to be a wifi router, a network doesn't have to be connected via wifi.
The first thing that comes to mind isn't a movie but a miniseries - Midnight Mass.
For a movie maybe Groundhog Day?
For the TV remote you might want to check out a Flirc USB receiver. I bought one a long time ago for use with a Raspberry Pi and had no issues with configuring it or using it with a basic remote. I initially set it up with a Windows machine and haven't had to touch it since, but they offer software for Win/Mac/Linux. Could probably construct a cheaper DIY solution with a basic IR receiver and some scripting but it's a not an overly pricey turn-key solution if you don't want to go that route.
I liked this YouTube video about Diffie-Hellman key exchange [start at 2:25] that explains the concept using color mixtures.
