I'm talking about sapiens not human caused extinctions.

eventually recover there will be some species that persist and a couple hundred million years later a new species will grow to reign the planet.

That is far from guaranteed

It's not a zero sum game. I'd rather keep space research going to lower the risk as fast as we can. If you want to focus on the climate then we should end fast fashion which is much much worse for the environment. Also, space colonies are a chicken and egg problem, you cant just wait until the tech magically appears, you have to spend money inventing it. [Insert famous JFK quote about going to the moon here]

We are that special, in 4 billion years only one species has done what we have done. For better or worse. It's not certain conditions will be right for it to happen again

Very pessimistic viewpoint. We have issues to solve for sure but I very much doubt humanity will implode in less than 50 years.
