I'm not too familiar with what loom knitting results in, but my guess is still crochet. You can see where the yarn is twisted into a taller stitch (knitting tends to use many small stitches instead to create patterns) and how the stitches aren't exactly aligned (taller crochet stitches sometimes slant when you turn the work). Compare the back of the couch (it's oriented the same as if you were actively working on it) to this: (https://nordichook.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/PinVID_Double_crochet_blo-683x1024.jpg)

Bottom right looks like a different crochet stitch, maybe double crochet into back loop? The others have more of a shell pattern.

The idea of the ambassador owls commuting to work is highly entertaining to me. I wonder if they hate to commute as much as humans do.

There's a searchable list of lemmy communities at https://lemmyverse.net/communities

Edit: which I've realized doesn't answer your question about the internet at large, but hopefully still helps

It's generally frowned upon. Birds spend their lives collecting enough energy (food, water) to survive (find more food, defend territory, mate, etc). If a bird reacts to a fake call, it's wasting energy that could've been used for something actually useful, which lowers the bird's chance of survival.

In the northern hemisphere, at least. This little guy was kind enough to let me take a picture.
