I call those people radlibs, they radically support the establishment dems and firmly reject any suggestion of movement towards the left. One of em asked me if I would rather move America to the left and enable genocide and a Trump victory, or vote Biden, and when I said I'd do both, vote Democrat and make grassroots change to the left like unionizing, they told me I had to choose.

Wtf is that?

Only thing I disagree with is the idea that leftist change was more possible 20 years ago, Capitalism's instability and inherent structural flaws only make themselves more apparent and severe as time goes on, and with that comes potential for change. The left is larger than ever before, and is constantly growing.

The difference here is that for leftists, liberalism is still evil, just that fascism is far more so. Biden would still be considered the lesser of two evils in that instance.

Talking down to leftists as though their complaints are illegitimate and pushing a narrative that "Biden is good, actually" just furthers voter apathy, the correct way to engage with leftists is to point out how voting as a leftist is loss prevention. Because voting will never move America to the left, leftists must work on the ground to build grassroots movements, unionize, organize, protest, and more, while voting Democrat to keep fascists out of office.

Telling clearly passionate people that their criticisms are invalid and that their problems don't matter is an extremely privledged position to hold. For many people, the status quo itself is bad. People can't afford to just vote Democrat, they already can't afford many necessities and are already being targeted by fascists.

By contributing to the building up of the productive forces. Fuck this stagnation bullshit, invest in infrastructure and urbanization, invest in clean energy, and automation. Cut out meaningless jobs.

"Best?" Of course not, that's not how the 2 party system works. We don't live in some meritocracy, Capital is what makes the gears turn. The system is designed to change as little as possible.

Speaking purely from a leftist perspective, I'm actually of the opinion that Anarchist principles of building up parallel structures actually may be more applicable to the American political climate, even if you're more of a Council Communist, Libertarian Socialist, Marxist-Leninist, etc. The US is seeing rising Unionization, and dramatic impacts from it, so I think Syndicalism actually has some revolutionary potential, unlike waiting for a Vanguard Party a la MLism.

Just my 2 cents.

Hence my original point, leftists must vote for liberals, even if it isn't ever going to improve the system, and must work themselves to build up leftist structures without hoping for help from liberals. If they don't vote, then fascists take power, and leftists lose the chance to build leftist structures at all.

I do think you're too hopeful that a 2 party Capitalist state designed to change as little as possible would meaningfully improve from within, rather than under pressure from without, but it would be great if you were right about that.

I'm sorry, neither myself nor those I care about are privileged enough to both support the status quo by voting Democrat without also organizing and unionizing. Unlike privileged liberals like yourself, many people are struggling and can't afford what they need, or are targeted by fascists for being a sexual, ethnic, or gender minority.

I won't apologize for saying that it's not enough to vote Democrat alone, and that people should both vote Democrat and make meaningful change on the ground via Unionization, organization, and education.

B) do whatever the fuck you're doing, and try to encourage voter apathy while absolutely railing against anyone even suggesting both voting democrat and unionizing.

I pick option A, both denying Trump and also shifting the Overton Window to the left. You pick option B, doing absolutely jack shit while screaming online and also voting Democrat, leaving America an increasingly far-right state with nothing to to show for it in several years time.
