For the people.

It has immense propaganda value. Look at North Korea and Russia. They regularly parade their military to look powerful.

For them, they literally carry a big stick in the hopes that no one will challenge them.

Trump is doing it so that he can show the world how powerful he is. Not by military might but by forcing the government to do the parade.

This value alone is worth 10 times the cost for Trump. Remember that it's about his ego. And also remember that Trump isn't paying a damn cent. We are. He's thumbing his nose at us.

That value is worth 100 times the cost.

  • Luigi didn't do it
  • If he did do it, it wasn't that bad
  • If it was, it's not that big of a deal
  • If he was, it's not his fault
  • If it was, he didn't mean it
  • If he did, the CEO deserved it

I know this is the narcissist prayer and he's certainly not a narcissist (based on what I've seen anyway) but can't help but see each one of these lines unironically applies to the situation.

Fact is profit driven healthcare has killed more people than Luigi ever did, allegedly or not.

I waffled back and forth on a docker install. Outside of the initial panic to reinstall the OS (Ubuntu 24.04 for me), it was relatively straightforward outside of the config. It may be worth it to dockerize it so I can git control the config but not sure how easy it is under v6. They really changed how the files are parsed.

Before pihole was essentially a frontend for dnsmasq but it seems like it's a bit more than that now. I haven't had the chance to look too much under the hood.

If I'm being honest, I've wanted to off-load pihole to my router but lack the time and patience these days. I've reached the point in my life where IT isn't the most important thing anymore and just need it to work.

My company does it and it's fucking stressful. And just like you said, it doesn't make a ton of sense.

Occasionally there are certainly people who are just there to ride coat tails but I see this behavior more in leadership than in the front lines.

While it's true that tribalism is essentially a human, if not evolutionary trait, we could have made it damn near harder for fascists from gaining power. To start, stripping them from any political office (local or federal) and then banning them or any soldier that fought for the Confederacy.

States that seceded basically should have been converted to non-voting territories unless they agreed whole cloth to codify abolition into the Constitution, reparations to the North and to their slaves.

Literally just had my pihole hard crash this weekend due to a bad update to FTL. Apparently they had a major version upgrade and didn't bother to read the notes so I had to do a full OS reinstall.

Back up your configs people. Had to dig through documentation to find the sqlite file and then parse through it like some sort of animal.

I personally blame stack ranking, invented by Jack Welch to justify cutting 20% of the company.

If you want to get mad, the Behind the Bastards episode on him explains why corporate America is what it is today.

Have you no love for the shareholders who have invested their ill-gotten gains in these enterprises?!

Have you no decency?!

I believe South Carolina has a law like this for coastal regions.

Because it impacted beach house sales.

He wants to do eugenics in the same way that Trump wants to deport "gang members".

The filter is going to be arbitrary and going to be used to target people that they disagree with.

As an American, I do not take it personally that Canadians and other countries are boycotting the US. it's understandable, appropriate even, and I'm fully supportive of it.

The only thing I ask is that when the resistance comes that you find ways to support us, covertly if necessary, but public if able.

Of course not. Even in 2016 Trump was a figure head. Back then there was what was called the silent resistance of White House staffers who did their best to undermine or at least lessen the impact of their programs.

I have been saying for years the problem isn't Trump returning to power. It's people like Karl Rove and Steve Bannon, with the charisma of Obama that we need to be afraid of.

Turns out I was half right. Trump is still the figure head that allows the literal deep state to do the work of the Heritage Foundation. He is the alt-right's Obama.
