I didn't even "see" the subscription tab because for years the home screen had stuff from my subscription.

Now the subscription tab is my home page, mostly thanks to Technology Connections for pointing it out.

Eh....more like moving money from wealthy investors to not as wealthy conmen.

Costco is one of the rarest companies that, by corporate policy, has a cap on the profit they make on products year over year.

They choose to do other things once they hit that cap, like negotiate lower prices from their suppliers or, in the case of their chickens, fucking create their own chicken processing plant to vertically integrate the costs.

To terribly paraphrase their CEO, "Raising prices is easy and addictive. It's much better for our customers if we take the time and understand why we're losing margin and try to fix that."

I actually had the same reaction and so I looked into it. The threat is pretty low.

Worst case scenario is that you're working on something critical and your phone gets locked. You unlock it with PIN and move on. According to the docs, this can only be done a few times a day (iirc twice. I'm too lazy to look it up again. It's 2am and I should be sleeping 😅)

If it gets annoying, you could turn it off until the attacker moves on.

More realistically, you're on Lemmy while in the bathroom and you just have to unlock your phone.

If it happens with some level of regularity, I'm sure Google would either rate-limit the attacker or the phone number.

For Android, it looks like you can go to https://android.com/lock and use your phone number to lock your phone.

No MFA required. But this has to be enabled on your phone in order for it to work.

I read this as scientists that study rice.

Not scientists at Rice University.

So long as he didn't lie to his investors. Because that's what matters.

If they are talking about politics from the pulpit, Colorado needs to begin a tax investigation. They might not be able to do anything about their federal non profit status but they might be able to force them to pay state taxes.

If this got made, I would proudly NOT pirate the movie and make sure I and everyone I know paid full price for it.

Target is a data company. They literally have petabytes of data that tracks and monitors their customers to know what they buy and what makes them spend more time in stores.

They knew their customers supported DEI initiatives. They have the numbers. They have data show the boycott is working and yet they are doubling down on removing rainbow merchandise.

Target removing DEI was to bend a knee and not based on any logical business decision.

This is such an important distinction to make. Being able to wipe the phone would require a second device, so unless you are with someone who has access to that phone, you have to wait until you get home to initiate it.

Iirc my pixel has a "in case your phone is stolen from you" automation. Though I don't know the mechanics of how it works.
