There is a psychological term for it but essentially we as humans are fucking dumb when it comes to money and even though we tip, a higher price on the menu hits us differently than a lower price with a 20% tip later.

Iirc the experiment was done under different types of service as well and consistently across the board people preferred to see a lower price even though the overall cost was the same.

The biggest eye opener for me is that Elon posted the tweet with little regard of how it looks to him.

Elon essentially admitted he knew that Trump was on the Epstein files and supported him anyway.

Yet no journalist has asked him this question point blank.

I recently did a rewatch of The Expanse and as much as I enjoy it generally, I felt like the last season was meh.

The grit was gone and felt like the show rushed near the end.

Maybe it's just me though.

Her average constituent sees turban and thinks Muslim.

She represents her district in more ways than one.

I hate how free two day "super saver shipping" went from $25 worth of stuff to $35 to "maybe a week? Lol we'll deliver it whenever we want".

I have spent maybe $2k total there now in the last year? Mostly things I can't buy locally or elsewhere.

They are protected because they are migratory birds. You can get a license to kill them if they are constantly on your property.

Hard disagree.

They will provoke an attack if they even think you're getting too close to their gooslings.

I've given them several meters and they still charged at me.

From my very limited experience, it comes down to two things:

  • who owns the buses
  • who makes money off the buses

My experience in taking public transit generally is that there is often very little advertising about them and as a result people don't know about them unless you have to use them. Not only that but bus route maps are so damn hard to read. The best innovation I've seen is Google maps allowing you to use public transit as an option to get somewhere.

The second is who is profiting. We all know conservatives don't like paying for services they don't use, especially when it benefits the poor. Schemes like Uber are a way to get people to pay for their buses so that the municipality can pay less into their public transit system and ideally pay into theirs.

It's similar in terms of detail to Last Week Tonight but not as funny.

There was a study or survey or something that showed people are leaving the office earlier than they did before the pandemic, the average being between 3 and 4 pm.

100% true for me
