My company just plain old won't install Firefox without a good reason.

I'm stuck using chrome or edge. Once the ad block stops working on chrome, I move over.

You need a line break between your paragraph and your list.

Depending on the car you might be able to physically disable telemetry. Here are some thoughts/ideas I've been collecting:

  • Hit "SOS" button and opt-out of all services through customer service. This of course requires trusting the company to actually do it.
    • It's possible that the info could be stored locally and then uploaded when it gets serviced though
  • Remove the fuse to the modem/data communication module (DCM)
  • Disconnect wiring to the LTE antennas
  • A number of people have mentioned that they can get the dealer to disconnect the telemetry as a precondition to buying. For instance, here.
  • Jump the data communication module (DCM) cable with a ~$70 dongle to bypass just the telematics components
  • Disconnect the DCM cable, which will likely gimp the infotainment if not other systems, or remove the entire DCM unit

I hate to say it but voting is the bare minimum.

  • Vote
  • If you can donate to your candidate or choice, do it.
  • if you can't donate, volunteer.
  • Live in an area where the race is pretty much set due to gerrymandering? Volunteer and donate for other candidates.
  • Don't have time to volunteer? Write to your editor about your candidate.
  • Don't want to write? Send dank memes to people on lemmy encouraging them to vote.

$100 is small claims territory. Most jurisdictions, it's against the rules to hire an attorney and must be represented by someone who has the authority to make a settlement.

Not to be pedantic, but this verse is basic. Most Christians will have a counter to this verse and it's lost on many of them.

This verse is much more on point:

Jesus replied, “Do what you came for, friend.”

Then the men stepped forward, seized Jesus and arrested him. With that, one of Jesus’ companions reached for his sword, drew it out and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.

“Put your sword back in its place,” Jesus said to him, “for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels? But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?”

Here Jesus is, being fucking arrested. And someone pulls a sword to defend Jesus and he tells him to chill.

These people are Christians the same way I am vegetarian. On Sundays only.

He (and likely his wife) thinks that they are the exception and whatever rules won't apply to them.

His children are likely taught the same thing that if you align with the right values, you will be the exception....

Except that the leopards will absolutely bite their and their parents' faces off.

Even then it should be easy to add an additional field in their ad profile. Like "provide a list of domains your ads will go to."

And then set up some sort of domain authentication similar to let's encrypt or SPF records.

Fuck corporations! Think of the poor shareholders! Shareholders need their money back so that they can put more money into stable companies and force them to increase profits until they too are too big to fail.

They need a bailout!

Please!

Not at the expense of shareholder value.

I'm sure there's a sweet spot.

X is the windowing system for Linux and Unix machines. Typically you run a Windows manager on top of it that provides a more traditional UX that most Windows and Mac users are used to.
