Single white guys really aren't sending their best, huh?

HOLY FUCK. HEXBEAR. I just realized I'm a worker! This is just like 'The Condition of the Working Class in England.' It's like I'm in the book!

Thank you, that makes sense. It's nice to see young people respect their elders :^)

Sorry for being a boomer mom-type character archetype. Could you explain how solarpunk and cottagecore connect and why they are good but can be coopted? I honestly need to google cottagecore again; I remember hearing the word, but I'm not that online yet, I guess.

Now im not a solarpunk fan myself but I have seen many leftwing/leftish people seen positive on it. Is it good / bad ? I havent really looked into it beyond surface level.

The collective West views Russians as the enemy above all else. To a liberal, there is probably little difference between a Russian or a Palestinian both deserve no mercy in their eyes

LITERALLY ME

My hope would be to make a simple turn-based 4X game one day. Nothing with tons of features. I'm aware that strategy games might be a challenge, but I want to make games I myself would play and enjoy, and that I want to see more of in the world.

I 100% want to make something more ambitious, strategy game-wise, one day, but that's many years into the future. I'd like to cut my teeth on multiple smaller projects first.

I guess my plan is to use the experience I gain from earlier projects in more ambitious ones down the line. So, it would probably help to stick with one engine that is decent at what I plan to do. Then again, I'm basically at step 0.

Also, no worries, this is probably going to be a purely long-term hobby project for me unless I somehow strike gold.

Wowowo, you are that gamedev! I'm following your progress with interest. I'm interested in gamedev myself but a complete beginner and haven't even decided on an engine or anything. I just decided I want to get into hobby gamedev before I grow old and bitter.

Keep us posted. I havent played Dwarf Fortress since the steam release but I love reading about it.

Slay the Princess is a fun experience, but I feel it's best to say nothing about its content. I would really recommend it to some folks, but it's best to go into it blind (unless someone wants explicit content warnings).

Cities Skylines 2. (hexbear.net)

So what are everyones experiences ? I havent played it "yet" but im thinking about it at work and since its a shiny new game it does interest me. Mind you I thought traffic management in Cities 1 was pretty unfun for me but that was waaay back around release. I watched and followed basically 0 news around Cities 2 except for some trailers. Im aware of the performance problems some folks are having but I got a 3080 and a decent cpu so I assume that should be "fine" if I keep the settings on mid level.

Anyways any input is welcome. Good or bad. Say your piece egg-dog

Soo. In my neighbourhood there are some leftist stickers on some places. Which is cool to see. Now with that said today I noticed a reactionary sticker. Now my question is. Do you consider that kind of stuff worth anyones time ? Placing stickers ? Or removing nazi ones ? (Im aware that some people put razor blades under the stickers) So if I would remove reactionary stickers I would be careful.

Astral Planes includes:

Over 30 Astral Rifts to explore

8 new Relics

4 Civics

1 Origin

Astral Threads and Astral Actions

3 new music tracks composed by Andreas Waldetoft

…as well as some insights into some old friends and enemies.

Seems to be mostly an exploration/story focused narrative expansion. Rifts can have multiple outcomes/endings depending on what you do/decide. The Astral Rifts seem to be a mid/lategame mechanic which I think is good since there is little to no exploration in the later stages of the game.

New track from Nick Lutsko. Big fan of his work.

So, I have been thinking about picking up X4. I know some Hexbear users have played it. My question is, what should I expect? Is it good? Do I need mods, or can I play vanilla? Should I get some of the expansions as well, or is the base game enough?

I'm not a stranger to complex games and working my way through them. I do play Paradox games, for example. I also play a lot of strategy games such as Civ and Total War (even on legendary difficulty). So, the game being complex doesn't really scare me, and I consider it a plus.

Just give me your two cents. It would be greatly appreciated. Even if you haven't played it much, any input would be welcome.

Just stumbled upon this. Huh old Rick still got it.

I'm done with Baldur's Gate 3. I enjoyed it a lot. I would say it's the best CRPG I have played so far, and it's pretty accessible as far as the genre goes, with very high production values. Mind you, I'm not a huuuge CRPG guy, but out of the ones I've played, I liked it personally the most. I just have one critique point: if you play as a power-hungry evil character, the game seems much less content-rich, and you don't really get much in return for being evil. I'm not even talking about chaotic evil.

The Pathfinder games Kingmaker and especially WoTR are much better in that regard. So are Wasteland 3 and, of course, Tyranny (which is basically mostly evil choices) if you enjoy evil playthroughs.

I guess that's my CRPG gaming done until Rogue Trader next year. Please, no spoilerinos if you're playing a 'GOOD' playthrough, and nothing about Karlach or Wyll since they left me. Since I'm a bad guy, I'm going to do a Heroic paladin OR bard ? playthrough at some point in the future, 1-2 years at the earliest.

After Shared burdens the 2nd openly leftwing civic in Stellaris.

Yes I know its IGN but I thought it was a pretty decent vid in regards to some industry reactions to Baldurs Gate 3.

Pretty in-depth review after a first playthrough. It took him about 50 hours, but he played the early access, so he breezed through the first act, and he really knows his stuff. Normal people like you and me will probably need 70-80 hours for a playthrough. The game does have some issues, mostly minor bugs towards the end of the game, and the camera and inventory system can be a bit funky. However, with all that said, it seems to be a massive game in its genre. If you like CRPGs or consequence-heavy games, you should seriously consider this one. Plus, it's woke and makes chuds seethe.
