Oh of course🤦♂️
I was wondering when in the world that exchange rate would make sense. That’s definitely correct.
lol. Those Americans have never left the country and don’t have a passport.
If anyone’s curious what happened to the translation here, the original Russian is abbreviated — the full phrase would be «мороженое в ассортименте» (ice cream in assortment) — but they abbreviated assortment and Russian doesn’t have articles so they use them when you wouldn’t expect. ~~Also, this is most likely eastern Ukraine because they quote the prices in both hryvnia and roubles.~~
Worse than ‘94 is bad:
Lodging demand in the U.S. during the tournament is expected to boost revenue per available room (RevPAR) nationally by only 1.2% in June and 1.5% in July, Chantal Wu, a senior director of hospitality market analytics at CoStar, told Forbes.
That’s a noticeable downgrade from less than a month ago, when CoStar and Tourism Economics forecasted a still-disappointing 1.7% year-over-year lift in RevPAR for June and July—only a quarter of the boost received when the U.S. hosted the World Cup in 1994.
I wish we could just sign a player from Finland before the window closes rather than wait for the draft:
Seattle Torrent
Things haven't played out for Seattle as they thought. This team has more needs than wants. Leading that conversation with Hilary Knight and Hannah Bilka out is the need for more scoring. They might be able to find a forward in exchange for one of their blueliners, but this is a team that looks like they also need to figure out their chemistry and find players who know how to play as part of a team before they play as individuals. From a playoff contender, that's not likely the type of player that will be made available, but if the Torrent dangle the right defender, anything is possible. If there's a want in Seattle's lineup, it's for a defender with offensive upside as they've struggled to generate offense from the blueline. That however, isn't the type of player a "seller" gets at the deadline in this league.
Love to see women representing at every level of the game:
The former midfielder ended her career at Villa in 2022 and has progressed to become the club’s director of women’s football. As they prepare to dedicate Sunday’s home league game against Manchester City to International Women’s Day, it is noticeable that Ewers is alongside several other women in senior leadership roles at Villa. The club welcomed Maggie Murphy as managing director earlier this season and in Ewers, Murphy and the head coach, Natalia Arroyo, Villa are a rarity in having those three specific roles all filled by women, even before mentioning executive board members such as the chief people officer, Lisa Bailey, the head of football administration, Sharon Barnhurst, and the general counsel, Victoria Wilkes.
Ewers, Murphy and Arroyo work together daily in regards to Villa’s women’s team, bringing together three different nationalities and three different career backgrounds. “That’s a real benefit, also having three women who have experience in women’s football,” says Ewers. “We have a really big responsibility in helping other women step into the space. If women see it’s possible at a big club like this, it’s huge.”
This would be a huge loss. Buglioni’s really been eye-catching last couple of games, and there’s no excuse not to play the kids given the injuries:
Jenna Buglioni, Seattle Torrent
No rookie has got a worse shake this season than Buglioni who really hasn't been given a fair look in Seattle. The first round pick is averaging only 6:41 per game, and hasn't even seen a sniff in a scoring role. The Ohio State captain and Canadian national development team captain's confidence looks to have been erased. Whether it's a fresh start via trade, or hopefully for Buglioni expansion, she needs out of Seattle, and she's worth a shot for just about any team.
Four feels like Denver, Detroit, DC and Chicago, but I’d want at least one new Canadian team to keep the balance:
In the United States, Denver and Detroit are likely the leaders in any conversation. The league is obviously interested in Chicago, given the fact they are making two Takeover Tour stops there this season, and Washington had a spectacular showing in their stop setting an American attendance mark. Chicago's attendance however, hasn't been up to par with the rest of the tour, although they are selling better for the next Takeover Tour stop.
In Canada, it's hard to point at a mark that wouldn't be a supporter and logical placement for a PWHL team. Edmonton is believed to be the frontrunner based on venue and geography, although attendance in Edmonton this season, whether it was for the Rivalry Series or Takeover Tour, has not been great, and April's Takeover Tour game is selling poorly.

It’s tough to say definitively because there are a bunch of dialects, but in mine (west coast USA), “on another continent” is correct and “in another continent” sounds a little off.
Macario and Girma are also on the winning Chelsea side.
