Sony and microsoft have also done that for like a decade+. 2nd hand market was filled to the brim with people selling bricked consoles that couldn't go online. Walmarts warranty changed over xbox' because people would but a new 360, swap out the internals with their bricked consoles or broken consoles, and then return the "new" console back to Wal Mart.

They will cut off electricity if you do something illegal with it....
Science has a huge shortcoming with desperate scientists wanting funding and making up just enough to keep it. The peer review process works when it's something that actually gets properly peer reviewed, but there's not much money in peer reviewing a claim that x molecule lowers your heart rate by 10%.
Science will be great if society ever got to the point of no longer needing money or barter. Which would happen due to science.
Obviously not something the Dude would do, but I might try this.
So if I'm walking towards my house after giving one a ride I can't tell her to come on in?
The Dude is both chill, and poor. Not everyone has coffee liqueur and creamer money. He makes do with what's around and he's happy about it.
I don't use the fingerprint scanner cause cops can force you to unlock your phone by fingerprint, but not by pin or pattern.
Lol. Dude. If you think green screens and CGI weren't super easy to recognize back in the 80's, you need to go watch some old movies that used it.
Also, yeah, Tron released 2 years earlier and had some CGI. There was even CGI way before Tron in movies. When I say there was no CGI, I'm saying there was no CGI that could fool even a 6 year old into thinking an animal was jumping off of a cliff.
As for the green screen thing.... Bless your little soul.
But I'm in my 40's
