It's just a gui frontend of wine with some enchantment to run not just windows games but also windows softwares on Linux, it's pretty easy to install and setup also you don't need an account to use it

If all you need is np++ you can run it through Lutris which is faster than windows in some cases

I started with Fedora and ended up switched to Arch btw and that's what I'm using

There are good closed source softwares out there but most of the popular closed source software are bad not because of their functionality but because of evil and controlling monetization tactics

WinRAR -s, honestly I haven't paid for anything since I switched to Linux because everything is open source or freemium not that I paid for anything when I use windows anyway I quacked almost everything but I did bought Terraria and Half Life series

From my experience Windows have this system program called "CompatTelRunner.exe" that run silently in the background maybe once a month it's send data to M$ and using a lot of CPU power while collecting data, now with Al being pushed to windows who knows what it could be doing in the background without user knowledge
