Persona 5 Royal is gonna suck you in for a month or so, lol. I started that shortly after Christmas, thinking I could finish it on the break. Noooope. Didn't finish till late January.

You won't regret it. I wish I hadn't put off playing Control for so long. It's basically SCP, the game. Got a fantastic atmosphere that really pulled me in.

Also, there's this one notable part with metal blaring that is one of the most fun moments of any game (I'm being vague to not spoil it -- those who played will know what I'm talking about). I never expected it to be so damn cool and you won't either.

Yeah, I love The Last of Us, but it didn't really feel like it needed a remake either. It isn't enough of a difference to be worth buying for someone who already has the original version (especially not at that price tag). And IIRC, they didn't even give the remake the same improved combat system from the second game.

I guess the upside is that a new generation of gamers just starting each series can have an improved experience and I really am happy for them because Black Flag and The Last of Us are amazing, must play games. But I personally sure would prefer development be focused on new games.

And also making sure games are always gonna be on PC, because that's the platform that ages the best. Eventually, consoles seem to drop backwards compatibility and older consoles become difficult to get, but PC always works and generally ages best. Thankfully all AC games are on PC already and it seems Sony is now in the habit of pushing for PC releases after a delay.

Despite that age, I think it has aged great (at least on PC). It's a beautiful game.

I don't get why it'd be remade, given how well it has aged. Just make a sequel with similar gameplay but a fresh story, missions (no eavesdropping!), and map. AC Rogue was very similar, but without being explicitly pirate themed and the story of Rogue was very short (but I did like it).

[..] President Emmanuel Macron after he appealed to parents to keep children off the streets and blamed social media for fueling unrest.

Lol, no Macron. This is one of those times where social media is clearly a societal positive. Without social media, you could have swept your little police violence under the rug without any pressure to make a change. But now people are informed and organized enough to not stand by idly as police murder us.

Instead of bemoaning your people being unhappy, why don't you actually do something about the root issue? Isn't that your job?

And you could probably become, like, better than Michael Phelps. I don't think humans can compete against an aquatic species.

Might depend on the country though. I grew up where credit unions were really common and just assumed they were the best. I had to switch to something else cause I moved across the country and my credit union was only on western Canada. While shopping around, I realized that the big Canadian banks were offering way more than my credit union ever was. Plus their website actually felt modern.

Out of curiosity, are you using some kinda app? Cause I've been seeing comments, including yours, contain "undefined>" and it doesn't seem to be either a Lemmy or kbin thing. Maybe a misfunctioning app?

I'm curious what series might be most similar to The Orville in terms of quality. I watched The Orville a few months ago and really loved it and it's what's making me wanna finally try Star Trek again.

I'm considering skipping over TOS because I tried to start with it before and stopped watching at some point (plus a huge Trekkie coworker strongly suggested skipping TOS). With respect to how TNG or later references TOS, are the references mostly the kind that just need you to know the basics of the characters vs having seen the actual series? I've watched enough of TOS to know who the various characters are and the setting (at least anything in the first dozen or so episodes). Wondering if that misses out on anything much.

Also wondering if there's some small number of TOS episodes that could be watched out of order or if the whole series should be skipped over if taking this approach. I've heard some specific episode titles as good ones and am wondering if I should just watch those specific episodes and then skip ahead to TNG or if that might cause confusion (I can't really remember how episodic TOS is).

It heavily varies by person. Some people give AMAs that make you question if the responses are even from the real person ("let's just talk about Rampart") but other people's AMAs are really fascinating and feel like you're getting a genuine answer to your question (pretty much any AMA that hit BestOf). Even if the AMA is only done for publicity purposes, it can still be interesting and that's what really matters.

He can also credit this site for me subscribing to him on YouTube lol. I had never heard of Technology Connections before, but a post a few days ago somehow got me to watch a lengthy video about freaking dishwasher detergent.

And then somehow I also watched an HOUR LONG video about a fridge! A fridge! How the heck did he manage to keep me interested in a freaking red little fridge for so long? I've now learned more than I thought I ever would about things like heat pumps, turn signal and brake light regulations, CDs, and heat pumps.
