If that's your response, then you have no basis to complain about abortion rights, Trump, or anything else. Everything and every injustice can be boiled down to "the world isn't perfect," so we might as well throw up our hands and just accept it all, right?

And if Dems had passed single-payer instead of a Republican healthcare plan when they had a supermajority in 2010, thousands of people wouldn't be dying from lack of adequate healthcare and people wouldn't be cheering about a healthcare CEO getting executed in the street in 2024.

If they'd boosted the minimum wage at any point since 2009, maybe so many people wouldn't be living in their cars or in tents on the sidewalk.

If they'd fought harder to maintain Obama's SCOTUS nomination in early 2016 instead of "waiting until after the election," or fought against Trump nominating someone a month before the 2020 election, abortion would still be legal.

If they actually stood for the principles that they claim to, our weapons and tax dollars wouldn't be currently being used to turn tens of thousands of Palestinian men, women, and children into red mist.

Trump is just a symptom of the rot that I'm speaking of not the cause. It doesn't matter if he wins an election or not because there's a lot more like him lining up to hold office.

I did when I started vaping. How is it any of your concern what I do?

[–] CmdrShepard42@lemm.ee 4 points 8 months ago (3 children)

What an idiotic (or very calculated) thing to target. You can buy ten 2mL vapes but you can't have 20mL inside a single vape? I fail to see how this would alter anyone's behavior as far as quitting nicotine goes and intentionally creates more waste. It'd be like legislating that you're only allowed to sell cigarettes in a 3-pack. I say 'calculated' above because maybe this is the very situation they wanted to create so they could point to the mess and sway the public to look at vapers like disgusting pigs in order to pass even harsher laws.

I do think that's the right strategy after seeing how effective it is for people like Trump to use, but there's a lot of catch-up to do along with battling against state-sponsored propaganda from countries like Russia and China.

Lithium batteries can be recycled so it's not really generating waste to use them unless you're throwing batteries in the garbage.

The only reason why the industry moved to disposables is because of all these heavy handed regulations on the industry which did nothing toward their stated goals of 'keeping them away from kids' and just created more issues. If we could go back to refillable mods with replaceable batteries, the waste issue caused by disposibles would be mitigated.

It's definitely a funny thing to joke about but this is exactly how the media and ruling class manipulate people into falling in line with whatever agenda they're trying to push. It's quite scary how effective it is and how difficult it can be to combat.

[–] CmdrShepard42@lemm.ee 8 points 8 months ago (2 children)

I agree. My coworker buys disposable vapes with full color LCD screens and all other types of gizmos and they cost about the same as a single bottle of juice for my $100 mod.

Same goes for any other device with a lithium battery. Refillable vapes last quite a while at least.

More people need to mind their own damn business too so that we don't end up in ridiculous situations like this.

Those are only as ubiquitous as they are because of all the previous bans that wiped out all the juice and refillable mod manufacturers that used to exist. They're just trading one problem for another and are now trying to blame end-users for the mess these legislatures have created (at least in the US).
