Oh wow that turret was probably seen on various radars in the region.

What is the thought process behind these attacks?

We all know from Operation Atalanta, the anti-piracy naval operation around Somalia by EU and UN, that interrupting trade routes is a speed run to get a strong military response. Around Yemen, even US naval forces got involved. But why would the Houthi rebels want that? Is there any gain for them from getting such an escalation? From my armchair point of view, this doesn't look smart.

As per comment on the hacker news discussion, Dropbox AI was apparently introduced and mentioned in the changelog on October 10, 2023 only for users from the USA.

"Dropbox AI is currently in alpha and available in the US in EN only for Dropbox Pro, Standard, Advanced, Essentials, Business, and Business Plus. Some features may be available soon for eligible non-US customers to test."

I just checked my settings before reading that comment and there is no such setting on my free account ('Basic') from the EU.

Also the article is dated Dec 1st, quoting a Greek source article dated Nov 28th. Nearly 2 weeks old reporting.

The danger comes from the possible legal and financial issues, less from personal injuries.

With more than 25km/h, depending on region/country, it's no longer a bicycle, but a motorised vehicle. Requiring a driver's licence and insurance.

It could be driving without license. Or having one, could lead to insurance issues and thereby problems for the driver's license due to driving an uninsured vehicle. Which again can lead to dramatic financial problems, if you have an accident and no insurance pays. So you'd be stuck with all costs out of your own pocket.

All from that tiny error in the software with having the wrong tire size programmed.

You have to watch until the end, approx. at 1:30 it starts getting more interesting. It's like poking a stick into an anthill.

We had this submission yesterday already and the title is very misleading. No one has to support Israel, but one state in Germany demands to recognize Israel's right to exist.

Especially living in a city, this looks interesting to me. 'Fast' charging I've seen was in the range 30-60 min but then it's like the phone, from about 20% up to 80%. So living in a city, I'd have to wait for half an hour for half the battery.

With a swap-station, it could be nearly as fast as a fossil fuel stop. About 2 minutes for a 0% to 100% stop.

This also allows for smaller batteries, for smaller cars, for lighter cars. You don't need to carry a lot of overall range if you can swap/refill to 100% in 2 minutes.

The European spendings and commitments for Ukraine are higher than US. As it should be.

Is the canal already open again?

The El-Mansy bridge can be found on Google Earth/Maps and it's a floating bridge, with a fixed section on each bank:

But looking on https://www.vesselfinder.com/ over the last minutes, I saw two ships (Serengeti & Omiros L) passing that piece with the bridge from north to south through the canal.

edit: As others already posted: What a shit article, nothing is or was blocked. Reuters has the proper info.

To me this is such a minor thing, that the whole topic, currently widely discussed in media, looks like a distraction from the overall shit show COP28 was.

COP28, with the before leaked documents, that it will be used as platform for the UAE to negotiate new fossil fuel deals behind closed doors. And Sultan Al Jaber saying there is no scientific basis for phasing out fossil fuels to keep global warming under a critical threshold.

To 'phase down' and 'phase out' is the same thing, just with two different time points selected. The event is a fossil fuel reduction and once you phase down long enough, you reach the phase out. It's like a kindergarten group debating a common statement, if later in life they will be teenager or adults. Both is true, one just sooner, the other later. Arguing about the wording detail in a non-binding statement is so silly to me, but there is a whole wave of media publication about it.

The more important CO28 topics from two days ago are gone though.
