Probably somewhat depends if it was used around younger generations and the context explained to them. Sort of like how I’ve seen Flipper and Mr. Ed also become less commonly known and mentioned.
That said, my cat audibly sighs at me when he’s singing the song of his people and I ask, “What’s wrong? Did Timmy fall down the well again?”

In this case it is thankfully placed in an obvious spot. I was speaking more in general because they’re not always that easy to find.
My parents have one of these, and it drives me nuts when I visit. I understand that feature on something like an oven where it’s still cooking. But the microwave stopped. Nothing’s going to burn. So stop rushing me!

They do love thistle. I always smile when I hear their “po-ta-to chip” call overhead.
