I haven't listened to this band yet but aesthetically and in terms of genre tags it reminds me a lot of The Black Moriah. Blackened thrash from Texas, with a spiritual western theme.

I second this. I was this neurodivergent kid. Finding a therapist who can approach neurodivergence appropriately may mean that the solution isnt instant, but therapy is incredibly worth it for neurodivergent children.

when they say "people who make the deus vult meme their whole personality," are they not just referring to alt right bros? to my understanding, this was a dogwhistle for a while regarding ones stance on immigration, waxing "nostalgic" about the islamophobia of the crusades

you'll come to realize that being an anxious person has its problems but also some benefits :)

This is the same kind of anxiety I have. This sounds a lot like OCD or an anxiety disorder. Consider the following: thoughts can not be immoral, actions can be. Your mind is your own playground to do whatever you want in, and if the thought of killing bugs is what comes into your mind, thats merely you experimenting with the idea. It says nothing about your character besides your curiosity. There's a reason why thoughtcrime has historically been an idea in dystopian novels: our thoughts are not entirely in our control. We can vaguely guide the flow with some willful control, but the river will flow whether we like it or not. Don't shame yourself for your brain functioning exactly as it should. We have ideas and then we crosscheck those ideas with what our ideal self would be. Your ideal self would disapprove, as evidenced by your concern over this. It is admirable that you clearly care so much for your wellbeing, but the energy is misplaced. The more energy you put into the moral value of these mere thoughts, the more valid they will seem to your brain. Intrusive thoughts are ultimately uncomfortable, but they have no power over you unless you give them it.

note: most people dont give a shit about bugs, me included. the urge to get rid of a bug or other small invertebrate is totally normal. if having these thoughts makes you a murderer... then everyone else is genocidal.

i dont know of a ton of slurs used against the specific concept of being a furry, but because furries overlap with neurodivergence and queerness, the bigots just often revert to their default of calling people fags

as a scifi nerd and transfem, I will always love people using astronauts as an analogy for the foreign or alienated

Ive been working on a project and I'm extremely hyperfocused so I just thought to throw something together really quick. Upon putting the tofurkey and cheese onto the tortilla, I thought it could use something to make it more "nutritionally complete." Thats when I remembered I had a leftover taco from taco bell in the fridge. AMA I guess

update: I finished it and it was pretty good

Currently I want some materials or a ship to a friend of mine. Neither of us want to do the grind at the start, and she wants to at least START with the ability to laser mine or fight pirates. Is there a way to give a ship? Or if not, how can I give them minerals that they can then sell and be able to afford the ship?

I need to post so I may as well quickly yap (also I wanna help this comm grow) I've been playing elite dangerous and I've never previously committed myself to an MMO and GOD IS THIS GAME FUN!! SO MUCH SHIT TO DO!!!! IT FEELS SO GOOD TO HAVE OPTIONS AND NOT BE EXPECTED TO GO ONE DIRECTION OR THE OTHER!!!!

I see the word comrade get passed around a lot on the internet, particularly lemmy, and I've never really known the lore behind it. The only association I have with the word is that it's a word I primarily see used by tankies (as in, authoritarian leftists who hate on authoritarianism in the west but not in the east). Does anyone know and can explain it in a relatively understandable way?

I'm fairly new to piracy overall, but I feel like I understand the basics of how to avoid my ISP and such. A family member who's in college texted me the other day asking how she could pirate textbooks and I realized I'd never thought about it. Any tips for pirating textbooks? Safe sites?
