I’m not the original commenter, I’m just skeptical that someone can’t see the difference in cognitive effort required for the two things.

Washing the dishes and running a marathon are both starting things, so if you can do one you should clearly be able to do the other, right?

Feed me, Seymour!

Do they often have those in places other than subway/train transit hubs? I’ve never seen them anywhere else here (US southwest). And honestly I didn’t even know they were a thing before I moved here, public infrastructure in the US is so fucked.

I would legitimately love a study on whether this makes drivers more or less likely to be angry, because anything other than complete neutrality would be hilarious.

Seems like a reasonable addition? The average person’s conception of a drone delivering something is probably an Amazon drone or something like it, even if they’ve never seen one in person. The point being made was that the drones required to deliver an e-bike to an active war zone would be much beefier.

Attorney Robert Berg, a Scarsdale resident, told Drop Site, “Chief DelBene is not qualified to determine that Flock’s services/products are so unique that Flock meets the standard of a sole source vendor under New York law and Scarsdale Village policy.” Berg has addressed the Village Board regarding the Flock contract adoption. Berg explained, in a statement to Drop Site, “four members of the Board, including the Mayor, are attorneys.” Berg was incredulous that four lawyers “would vote to approve an illegal no-bid, sole source contract with Flock, that plainly violates State law and the Village’s own formal policy, and to do so secretly when the company is already embroiled nationally in lawsuits and controversy over its violations of privacy laws.” He told Drop Site.

Sounds like a few people in charge are getting kickbacks.

until she completes the long and expensive process that they require for DUI offenders.

Sounds like there’s a path to forgiveness, it’s just not cheap or easy. Which, why should it be? She drove under the influence and could have killed someone.

Do you really not get how actively playing a video game requires more executive functioning than hitting a video play button?

Normal human feelings are related to ADHD and autism, because many symptoms of both are just normal experiences happening more often. Everyone knows what being overwhelmed or impulsive is like, that doesn’t mean neurodivergent people don’t experience it to greater extents and with a greater frequency.

Trump still would have won in 2024 even if everyone had turned out to vote, Pew finds

It was just laying around his uncle’s place after he died and nobody else wanted it for some reason.

Yeah, I don’t really disagree with the sentiment of the sign but you couldn’t pay me to put what is functionally a Facebook/Twitter post on my hypothetical lawn.

Earthquake! (piefed.blahaj.zone)

That got the adrenaline pumping!

4.5 according to USGS.

Don’t forget to fill out a felt report.

Anyone else read this? It’s an ongoing comic (<200 pages currently) set in the moderately distant future, post (multiple) alien contact, people living in space, genetic mods are common, that sort of thing. The protagonist is an alien centaur that was fostered by humans and has never lived around her own species, and it follows her and her friends’ encounters with a ship’s AI pilot of questionable origin trying to get help repairing itself.

I’ve been following the artist for a while as they developed this, first on Twitter before it went bad and later on Bluesky (they’re also on Mastodon). They’ve been doing a lot of fun speculative biology and world building for it, and I’m also really into the art style and character design.

If you’re interested in the world building aspect of it (I think it’s really neat!) you can check out the worldbuilding directory they put together, with info about each species, planets, etc.

I’m not totally sure if this is a Piefed issue or a Blahaj server issue, so sorry if it’s the wrong spot for this.

I’ve noticed that when I try to search for things, the results I get aren’t as expected. If I don’t select to search a community, post, or comment, I get nothing. Searching for posts or comments also pretty frequently gets me nothing.

Random example: just searching ‘signal’ gets me nothing on both posts and comments, along with nothing if I select nothing. But if I search under communities it gives me a community that is already federated and has threads and comments about Signal.
