I've not had great experiences with vegan cheese. There was a feta that was quite good but all the 'cheddar' sort of things I've tried have been awful. Rather go without.

We had an oops where one fell down. Startled kitty is justifiably cautious.

I can't comment from a parent perspective, but have a friend who is proud to claim what they call a'full set' a cis child, a trans one, and an enby. From knowing many people with interesting gender stories the earlier the better, ultimately it's not about you. Hugs.
