My stomach one was watermelon seeds. My brother told me that if you swallowed them they would grow in my stomach and of course I believed him. There's plenty of water and nutrition in there and every time I open my mouth they could be getting sunlight.

They're unfortunately eating all the pecans, the property has large pecan and acorn trees everywhere from one of the previous owners so they're always well fed. Looks to me like I have eastern fox squirrels after researching into it further, they can grow up to 30 inches in length and the claws look about right. Seems like my area is one of the few places in the state they reside, really glad I looked into it further and finding out so much more about them.

I will say, I absolutely love the guys and want to do more with the property to support them. The property around us was recently clear cut so our trees are the only vestige of a habitat that they have left around here. I've always thought about setting up a webcam of some sort because they love sun bathing on our bricks during the cool hours and will sit on our window sills under the awning when it gets really hot out. That's how I've been able to observe them so closely and realized they're not so cute and cuddly so wouldn't want to be trapped in an enclosed space with a frightened one.

I'm guessing most people in here haven't had to interact with a tense squirrel in a confined area before. Squirrels look cute when they're sitting with their twitchy fluffy tails and extremities tucked in or jumping/climbing around gracefully.

The reality, squirrels are huge up close (cat sized), have extremely muscular physiques, and fucking claws like a Velociraptor. I'll admit though with trying to find pictures online that it turns out my local breed is just a larger species of the family but there's really no photography I'm finding out there of them. Guess it's time to learn some new skills and post up the group that lives around the house.

I remember growing up in the 90's and being acutely aware of the growing minimum wage. I knew no matter what that when I was able to get a job I would be guaranteed "this" amount and always thought about prices and how long I had to work to get something I wanted when I was an adult. Every small bump made it a little mini-celebration like I was getting a future raise that would allow me to have a better life.

Now? Shake and bake costs over 5$, I have to literally work over an hour to buy half a cup of "convenient" seasoned bread crumbs. I could buy the flour, make the bread, and process it to make my own... but now I'm out of time in the day to work enough to actually afford the meat or any other side item. Oh yeah, and at some point I should pay my bills and save for retirement -_-

Shaggy the pirate over here

[–] Cataphract@lemmy.ml 2 points 10 months ago

Yeah, they're everywhere so technically 90% of the population is within driving distance to an airstrip here. The same methodology applies to every country though, a lot of people are intimidated by "official" or industrialized settings and don't realize there is a lot of small unused real estate an owner or manager would love to get used by a motivated individual.

Definitely not the case for large corporations but after they move out the facilities usually are struggling to turn a profit and are an easy grab (or government subsidized places are less greedy), it also looks more professional if you're trying to do public work.

I enjoy being naked. Not a taboo "sexual" joy, but like my body can freely move. I'm more aware of what I'm doing and what my body is feeling. My posture is better, I don't overeat (it's psychological, seeing and feeling myself controls zombie gluttony), my skin feels healthier being exposed, I'm more confident in being shirtless or "exposed" compared to normal societal dress, etc etc etc.

Most important part, we need to combat the "naked=sexual". It's taboo in the west and we have a real health problem with body hiding and not openly talking about stuff.

All that said, they're wearing shoes and helmets... It makes no sense and this is just a performative event. I wear clothes when I'm cooking or doing anything that might harm my skin on contact. They're doing a 6 day TANDEM marathon!! That's a lot of faith in the universe and all of it's constantly moving parts.

ohhh data collection taxation, I like it. You would think it would be a no-brainer but look at marijuana taxation and the continued resistance to rake in all that public funding. Would make most of the controversy around AI disappear if they tax it's collection.

This is probably too late, but may help someone. If you're looking for an "industrial" type of setup for a workshop, look at small, local Airports.

There are small airstrip airports all over, and their filled with warehouses that aren't being used. My friend rented a small hanger for a couple hundred (he did small engine repairs) which the owner allowed him to build or do whatever he wanted in there, eventually he made an overnight loft/hangout room on one side when he felt like crashing on late nights. He enjoyed having a dedicated "away from home" space to work and the airport gave him business when locals drove by and saw him working (some local pilots always had stuff that needed work). The really cool bonus part was pilots would just show up and ask if he wanted to go with them for a joy ride, guess it's more fun when you get to share the experience with someone.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Negro_Motorist_Green_Book

Green wrote his guide to services and places relatively friendly to African Americans

Green founded and published the Green Book to avoid such problems, compiling resources "to give the Negro traveler information that will keep him from running into difficulties, embarrassments and to make his trip more enjoyable"

You've completely twisted the reality of what that book is. This was a guide on safe places, not your dystopian private citizen political tracker you're trying to promote.

No, you quoted wikipedia then said "You can also look at his legislative history to see.." denoting a separate action. You just linked an entire like 50 page wiki article, what am I looking for?

While he has consistently advocated for progressive causes, Politico wrote that he has "rarely forged actual legislation or left a significant imprint on it." (link)

I was a Bernie voter in 2016, this comes from someone who has campaigned for him and researched him extensively. His performance the past decade has been subpar and I keep seeing him become worse while magically he's making the Dem party "Better"^TM^.

thanks for ignoring my statement on the difference in brigading so you could brake off into a diatribe -_-. The Jan 6th wasn't a brigade, just ask Trump. Just need some social boogeymen to stir up trouble and it becomes a "natural" problem, not a brigade. "The vote counts on this thread show that most people are using voting this way.", in this space, about lemmy drama and a small echo chamber.

Look I'll be honest and let you know you just seem like a spoiled down-voter after all of our back and forth. You don't follow the communities rules, you don't belong to the community, you constantly downvote in a negative way, and the only people who have broken a rule, is this post with all the people talking about the ban on here (instead of privately reaching out like is spelled out).

fighting over this, but I don’t really care. As long as it banning people for downvotes doesn’t become normalized by Lemmy Mods, this doesn’t affect me.

You don't care about the community, only your ability to downvote on anything you want

  • I’ve never posted in that sub
  • I’ve never commented
  • their posts are self-righteous
  • they’re trying to artificially lower the number of downvotes their content gets

By people who never participate or even belong in the community, who downvotes because of .... feelings. You're the perfect example of the Paradox of tolerance, by allowing your views you will only wish to silence and put down other's who you don't agree with.
