Is there a specific way to join the poll?

[–] CMLVI@kbin.social 5 points 2 years ago

It's the classic question of do you prefer a reflective poll or a predictive one. Some people attempt to rank the teams according to where they will finish, others reward past performance. Many try to blend the two, but the implementation is always a point of contention.

I prefer ignoring ranking until about week 5, and then leaning more towards reactive polls rather than predictive. No point in playing the games with predictive polls not penalizing losses.

I think within week 1, keeping TCU and LSU ranked are fine, but if they continue to underperform or other teams overperform, inertia shouldn't keep them in.

I'm like 30+ hours in and it's all I'm thinking about at work rn. That doesn't always happen, few games hook me like that. Halo 2/3 from MS/HS, probably Skyrim to an extent, ESO (forever and always apparently, cause I'm still playing that amongst Starfield), and now this. And it's all aspects. I want to build my ship, I want to do my outposts and crafting, I want to explore planets to find needed resources, gear, and weapons, I want to finish the main story, and the side quests (and I'm actually agonizing over which side I want to go with). Menus are weird, but it barely detracts. If anything it helps me get where I need to go quickly, the travel to objective feature is awesome for someone like me who couldn't find New Atlantis at one point because I forgot which system it was in.

I'm debating bringing my Xbox with me to a friend's house for a weekend trip so we can play there.

I'm definitely bringing it, who am I kidding?

There may be a cave or something where it generates, if it's a rare material.

Agreed. It sucks that this is where the sport is going, but it's untenable to keep subsidizing the costs of smaller programs to your own detriment. The games suck. They aren't entertaining, they're usually hot AF at noon, they're usually (relatively) poorly attended. I'm not even going to finish watching us play Duquesne because I have another sports event to go to Saturday.

I love 11 P# games and 1 G# games. It feels right. Do whatever you need to with your conference scheduling, but get to 11. It helps preserve rivalries and just leads to better games. The goal is entertainment. Why not push for that?

Hard disagree. We aren't a premier program. But we usually are a competitive one. In a time where we are about to be left behind, I'd rather play Pitt and Penn State and lose rather than Pitt and ECU, and lose to Pitt. Meaningful games draw the fans in, despite performance. He absolutely has a point with us opening 3 seasons on the road against P5; that's a tough ask, and continually sets the tone for each season. Do things play out differently if we start with Duquesne and then play Penn State? Unlikely, but there is something to be said for almost no one on this team to ever be "undefeated".

With that many knee injuries in 4 years, you wonder if he'll have a chance in the NFL just based on prior injury.

God forbid Pitt gets ranked after Saturday and we have to open the season losing to both ranked Penn State and ranked Pitt.

That's what I don't get. All these tankie morons are hiding behind the flimsiest of "Nazi persecution" lies. Ukraine is just flat out amazing for Russia strategically, it's very clear what they wanted. Not to mention some fat ore reserves they have parked in the ground for burgeoning industries.

But no, it has to be Nazis and Western agendas while they bomb schools and residential neighborhoods with these extremely accurate bombs they possess but choose not to use...

That may have changed your ship weight and done something to the available paths; did your LY travel distance change?

At any rate, I've never had it purposefully stop me somewhere more than the one time to "discover" the location, so it should at worst be extremely temporary.
